@@AesirUnlimited Where did you source that information? If they cared about the characters seeming weak why did they kill off Barristan Selmy the greatest swordsman in Westeros the way that they did. Stabbed in a back alley by some rich guys that were supposed to be miles below Barristan in terms of skill. How would showing the Blackfish fighting off and killing a few Lannister men ganging up on him after he refused to surrender make him seem weak? Please dont defend dumb writing.
@s0001620173 жыл бұрын
@@erikcarrillo7378 I don't want to defend bad writing either & oh so much was a train wreck, but you're talking about the golden company he fought against alongside Greyworm, right? While I agree & it still should have given him a much better way to go, it's a cruel & unjust world (in the books & real life, & atrocities happen to great people/men who deserve better every day, as incredibly special as he was), & by my count after rewatching that fight just once a few months ago, I counted at least 11 attackers he took out by himself before being swarmed, to greyworms 2 to 3 attackers. Should have been handled better, even surviving to contribute further, he still showed his old man skills were still razor sharp in that small space with a much too large sword , where as with dummy & dummy running the show (no pun fully intended), we're lucky he wasn't just hit in a vulnerable spot in the back before he could show some real badass stuff which wouldn't have surprised me with the crap they were doing to the characters & story/writing, so unjust as I agree with, he got to at least show Greyworm how an almost elderly real night, & very arguably one of the best ever if it wasn't for the sword of the morning (untouchable in my eyes with the red viper doing his best to get to the same level & doing very well in achieving that although we know that's just a level I don't think anyone else truly can achieve Arthur Dane like the kids say this is just built differently & not in a mountain kind of way although u knew that's not the built i was talking about). Enough about all that sidetracking, but he did overcome at least 11 or more swarming at once i a shitty alley (unfortunate that there couldn't have more witnesses in the light of an open area where he & greworm would have probably come out victorious, but not everyone gets to ending they deserve in this cruel world, I just typed all that to say he really showed how bad he still is & took out sooo many more than the Worm, surely inspiring The badass in his own right while also saving his young life. Like I agreed it shoulda been better for him with all his achievements & accolades garnering much much fully appreciated respect, it could have been much worse/disrespectful with d&d's writing. Edit: But he's took sooo many of these "certified killers" in a very shitty situation which I fully believe made Greyworm raise his game quite a damn bit as well after seeing the old man in a bad spot still end all of them allowing the Worm to survive. I'm not happy but they (the writers could have done way worse than they did which I know isn't saying much) but he displayed a shit ton of his skills before being swarmed, very unfortunate but he didn't go out like a punk & I'm aware of the insane/impossible feats he'd accomplished throughout his live, like going super stealth to one man rescue the mad king whom were on extremely rocky terms at the moment but a kings guard gonna do what a kings guard does especially when it the Legendary Selmy. Anyways shoulda been better, coulda been worse though. Thoughts?? In not going back to see what autocorrect screwed up so hopefully u can get it with the dumb stuff that autocorrect pulls.

@tomainterpunkcijamioc3 жыл бұрын
I doubt. I think Brynden doesn’t like *marriage* and aristocratic weddings (which we see at the Red Wedding), but he probably loves *women* and maybe, like Tyrion, prefers beauty to high birth. Maybe he has a secret wife who is not of noble origin and therefore hides her from the public. Maybe that's why he didn't judge Robb for rejecting Frey-girl.
@pedromenchik19613 жыл бұрын
it could be the case, but he wasn't shown to us to like women (at least sexually/romantically) in any particular occasion. Tyrion, on the other hand, is always seen in brothels and such and he did like the idea of marriage with Tysha, even if his family didn't.

The tullys might command as much loyalty from their vassals as the former kings of North and Vale, but the are on the same legal ladder, being lord paramount of 1 of the constituent regions of the Iron Throne. Furthermore, the Riverlands is much more densly populated, and in peace-time is much richer in food, trade, and taxes produced. It’s, like, mmm, saying it’s weird the kings of Sweden accepted a mariage with the Holy Roman Emperor. Sure, the Swedish king is more secure in internal position. But the HRE is much more wealthy and populous Edit: also, during the rebellion, only maybe 5 matches would have been better then with the Tully’s, which won them swath of friendly territory between their own kingdoms and King’s Landing. Namely: Tyrell, Redwyine or Hightower, all of which already declared for the Mad King. Greyjoy’s, but those are really less nice ally then the riverlands, but ships. And the Lannisters, who already heavily disliked the king but their preferred heir was a hostage to the king, so the west as a mariage was out. Really, they could marry the Tully’s, or one on the vassals of the Tully’s, or one of their own vassals. The last would not have gained anything new, the second only a small part of the riverlands, and the last most of it

Red for Family blood ties. Silver to do one's duty. Blue for Honor that is not as high as the Arynns but under the riverlands they rule. It's common for Tullys to make strategic betrothals to strengthen their house and honor them but Brynden refused which makes his sigil lacking of silver and as a play on words, he is the black sheep or 'fish' of the family. When you compare a family that only makes friends rather than fight enemies, Brynden is different from his family because he shows a more ferocious side of his house. Blackfish is meant to symbolize his rebellious nature in the face of his house's traditions but to display battle prowess in return.

Wait, The Riverlands is not one of the seven kingdoms, right? North, Vale, Iron Islands, Rock, Storm lands, Reach, and Dorne.. The riverlands was part of the rulership of the Iron Islands..

Brynden would've been more likeable on the show for me if he wasn't always making Edmure look bad. Still a awesome character but he didn't have to belittle Edmure all the time like he did.

Yes! He was such an unwarranted dick to Edmure

Yet Edmure had no backbone like Brynden said. He was willing to fight, while Edmure gave up for a bastard child that he was imprisoned from having. If Edmure had any backbone, he would of fought once he got the castle and fought all the way to the freys to get the child and flay the freys.

@@maelofohio6682 And then they would've all died. Secondly Edmure still married Rosalyn Frey making the baby they would have legitimate. Also Brynden didn't have to worry about sucession of the Tully House like Edmure did all he wanted to do was have a last stand they wouldn't have stood a chance against the Frey and Lannister Armies. Then on top of that they would've been forced to fight their own fellow former comrades of the Roverlands anyway exhausting them before they got decimated by said forces. It was a lost cause.

In the books, Blackfish is a lot more empathetic to Edmure even when Edmure misses 3 arrows on Hoster's funeral and then unknowingly disrupts Robb's plan. He even says that missing arrows is not a big deal as even Hoster himself missed on his own father's funeral.
@nononono34213 жыл бұрын
Edmure twice missed the boat carrying his father's remains with the flaming arrows, but Brynden did it. Could be foreshadowing that Brynden's will ultimately destroy the family, he is very stubborn: "Peace. Peace is sweet, my lady ... but on what terms? It is no good hammering your sword into a plowshare if you must forge it again on the morrow." "My first rule of war, Cat-never give the enemy his wish." "Resolve is one thing Brynden Blackfish never lacked for. Hoster Tully could have told you that." Also a point was made more than once that Brynden wouldn't believe Arya was the real deal, which could happen with Sansa too.

I think Brynden never married becuase he truly understood that "love is the death of duty" He did not want anything coming between him and his duty.

Probably asexual. Didn’t care for men or women. Just because someone isn’t straight doesn’t mean they’re automatically gay.

@@filmecke2618 I don’t think it’s possible to be gay and also be asexual. Asexual people literally don’t experience sexual attraction; they’re not attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex. If you’re gay, you do experience sexual attraction, to people that are the same sex as you.

I wouldn’t say Edmure is useless he did help Bryndan escape and negotiated a pretty good deal for all of the men inside the castle he also fought of the Lannisters and won a solid victory Robb may have been pissed because it didn’t go along with his plan but he never told Edmure his plan and just said hold the Riverlands which is what Edmure did.

The tullys were winning that siege. They had enough supplies to last them years. The Freys would never have broken through if it weren’t for cowardly Edmure opening the gates.... Edmure's premature attack on the stone mill allowed the mountain to escape. He was told to wait, but he wanted glory and ruined king robs plan to kill the mountain.

@@biggfish7010 Edmure was not told to wait to attack he was just told to hold the Riverlands and when he saw the Lannister army rampaging through his land he attacked and drove them off which he wouldn’t have done if Robb just told him the plan was to wait and surround the Lannisters. By getting the Tully men out of the castle he just put several hundred men out into the Riverlands with tracing capable of fighting the Lannisters rather than waiting in a castle for them to eventually starve to death or be killed when the attack happens, them waiting only makes sense if there is relief which there wasn’t. Edit: training not tracing

I think it's fairly obvious that the Blackfish was a closet homosexual and I'm honestly not trying to be funny nor facetious. According to the source material, and you pointed it out as well whycreate. He was an eligible bachelor and could've just about taken his pick amongst any high lords daughter but instead chose to stay single. He could've continued to be a badass warrior while being married so I don't think it was a case of him choosing one over another. Brynden was no fool. He knew a marriage alliance with the Reach would've undoubtedly strengthened House Tully and the Riverlands immensely and if he was straight, even if he didn't love the woman, he would've married, fathered children if for no other reason than to strengthen his house (and if he ever had an "itch" there would be someone there to scratch it so to speak). But I think the thought of having to marry and consummate the marriage quite literally made him sick. I mean think about it. Would any straight man/woman be willing to lie with a member of the same sex over and over and over and over again if you were not gay? Of course not. I can't imagine those feelings being any less intolerable for a person whom is gay. Also homosexuality/bisexuality is a fairly prevalent theme in GoT's.
