A Campground Everyone Will Love | Avila Beach KOA

We went to the Avila Beach KOA here in San Luis Obispo County. This is one of our favorite places to go in the Central Coast and we take a lot of day trips down there to hang out when we’re not camping. Back in May, they had a deal on for locals where we got a free night’s stay and that was super cool.
The campground itself is very nice! It looks like there are new owners and they are dumping a bunch of money into the place and it is very well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly and the kids loved the free pancake breakfast.
Not only is this a VERY kid-friendly campground, but there are a TON of amenities. There’s a beautiful pool and spa area, they have bike rentals, mini golf, shuffleboard, a huge playground for the kids, a dog park for the pups, an outdoor movie theater with family movies every night, barbecues, giant Jenga, horseshoes, and a big General Store.
The spots themselves are fairly small in terms of living space, but they are very deep so you can fit quite a large rig in there. Our 33’ Rockwood 2706ws was just fine and there were some larger 5th wheels in there too. The whole place is very nicely planted and there’s even a bunch of cabins there so if you want to camp and bring friends that don’t have an RV, this would be a good option.
It is really nice to have such a fun spot so close to home and to get to do some camping in San Luis Obispo! It isn’t exactly beach camping, but it is close enough that you can enjoy the beach whenever you want. We are always looking for kid friendly campgrounds or just family friendly campgrounds in general, and this one definitely ticks those boxes. It’s also a very dog friendly campground, which is a bonus for us! We went out there with some friends, had a blast, and made some amazing memories together-and that’s #WhyWeWork!

Thanks you guys! We appreciate the campground review. We are looking for a place to ride our mountain bikes and think we are heading to Montana de Oro State Park. This location seems like it is about 30 minutes from there. You mentioned a trail that takes you to the beach by bike and that sounds wonderful, not to mention we can take the dogs. Just one correction. This KOA is NOT on the beach. The beach is three miles away.
