We were lucky enough to be in one of the early rollout areas for our local utility boards edition of fiber optic internet. $65 a month for 1,000 up and down... Hell of a deal. And now with this thing, we get that full speed pretty much everywhere 😂

I bought this from Costco, and it’s 3 pack. I DO NOT GET SPEEDS ABOVE 1 gig. I pay for 2 gig from Comcast. Doesn’t matter what room I stand in, doesn’t matter what device I connect. I contacted support and they can’t figure it out. I feel like this model may have a defect.

Hi Shane - if you don't have a modem and will have ethernet coming directly from a fiber connection - will this system still be a good solution? Or should I get a dedicated modem (and if so, do you recommend one)?

Also when running tests it's better to not be so close to the access point. Too much signal can be bad. I'd say at least 2ft away from the access point.

I ran three tests at three different distances. Given it was able to hit effectively 100% of what I get on ethernet, hard to imagine there was significant degradation of performance.

@Shane Craig I am very new to mesh set ups, but today while having internet installed in my new home, the tech happened to tell me that surprisingly the biggest blockages for wireless is.....who would have guessed it, aquariums, large mirrors and even large/thick glass within line of site of broadcasting unit. I only comment as I immediately saw your fish tank in the video. I'll now go back to watching your review so I can decide on a purchase of my own...Thanks!!

it's good but wifi 7 isn't fully ratified is it? That is supposed to be by the end of Q4 2024. So wouldn't it be better to wait for 2025? If all you need is to deal with congestion, wifi 6e should be good enough. TPLINK has the XE75 which can be gotten for cheaper. Unless you have an internet faster than 1gbps then all you'd get mostly is just a faster local lan via wifi and that is assuming you have your networking setup correctly for multigig to begin with, otherwise they would be capped at the standard 1gbe speeds. if there is no urgent need to get a wifi ap right now, may as well wait. fyi to get the most out of this, you want to do the wired backhaul mode.
@rogershark9223 Жыл бұрын
Wifi 7 isn't a standard yet, not sure I'd have want to upgrade yet. Impressive results though. Might want to label the video with old router pre-upgrade to the screen for people skimming through the video
@shanecraigtech Жыл бұрын
Even without Wi-Fi 7, it is considerably faster as you move further away from the central router because each individual satellite will use Wi-Fi. 7 to remain connected. Your device doesn't need Wi-Fi 7 to see a big benefit here.
@NetworkNinja84 Жыл бұрын
its not the old days where they are going to require last minute hardware change. Only thing that is left is software finalization. You are not going to have big chip makers making chips and calling them compatible. Hardware is baked and has more then enough specs to meet whatever minimum standard they set.
@BePatient88810 ай бұрын
Standing next to my Deco Wifi 6 mesh router, my moto edge (2022) phone got 862 Mbps on that same speed test. Across my home, in the farthest room, that also had a mesh router hub in it, I got 212 Mbps. I have a 1 GB internet speed. I don't need Wifi 7, as none of my devices could use it.
@shanecraigtech10 ай бұрын
I may have said this in the review, but even if your device doesn't directly use it, there is still benefit because the router itself will use it. Going from router to router, there is higher speed so that means a device connected to a faraway router using Wi-Fi 6 will actually see a speed boost because there is less speed loss from router to router.

How do you feel about Tp-Link security knowing they are owned and operated by China? I love my new BE10000, but there are some concerns I have due to how the Chinese government operates with data theft and spying. Are our routers potentially spyware? Not trying to be political, but just curious what are your thoughts?
@hikeskool5 ай бұрын
Have you found a solution to this?
@penultimatename6677 Жыл бұрын
Since the standard isn't complete tp-link should guarantee a firmware upgrade will keep it in compliance. Otherwise why take a chance. Everything should be set by May 2024 the latest. Likely new routers coming out of CES will be able to stay compliant with a firmware upgrade. When it comes to network it is an issue to consider a Chinese company. The routers are required to have Wapi a Chinese government requirement. Supposedly can be turned off but is it really turned off?
@NetworkNinja84 Жыл бұрын
This is more of software things that are left. Hardware is pretty much done, its not the old days where you have to change hardware, its software defined after certain point. These things have more then enough hardware requirements to meet anything thats final
