It’s a pretty good and accurate video, but one thing that is not correct is that Gardnerians use no names for God & Goddess. Gards have public and oathbound names for both. Our theology consists of a Moon Goddess, a Horned God, and the Source that lies beyond duality.
@Rose-be4ou4 жыл бұрын
I see less wiccans acknowledge Source in their rites. I've always included Source through a working candle between my God/Goddess candles and feel rites are incomplete without the mention of Source.

@@kittyrosefaerie7464 Source may be better described as Dryghten in some Wiccan Texts. I believe Gardner mentions the name very briefly. However, Source is better experienced. It is the acknowledge ment of the spirit birther of all creation, no name, no gender, only defined by humanity's understanding through common archetypes.

I think there is sometimes added another third primeval cosmic force behind the duality of God and Goddess, as the original neutral unity that later splitted in them, but it's barely named or worshipped in all..
@Universopiate4 жыл бұрын
Usually referred to as The All or "Dryghten" as the body of energy that existed before the great division. Thought to have been the amalgamation of all ordered potential and chaos. Then splitting itself as the "unlife which creates life", enacting the cellular dance that all things multiply and divide. Sparking the beginning of all "nature" as we understand it and through its division, there is now contrast, and thus all things are given form from the formless.
@Master_Blackthorne2 жыл бұрын
@@Universopiate "Dryghten" means "lord" in Anglo-Saxon. Wiccans don't believe in a primeval masculine force but Lord and Lady from the very beginning.

So the goddess doesn't have a name really... I wish I had caught onto that before I searched and searched for a name to connect to triple goddess as I was told that the triple goddess was one goddess with three forms. With that, I feel really dumb...
@Spells85 жыл бұрын
The most prominent ancient Triple Goddess was Diana, who was equated with the Greek Hecate. Diana and Hecate were both represented in triple form from the early days of their worship, and Diana in particular came to be viewed as a triunity of three goddesses in one, which were viewed as distinct aspects of a single divine being: "Diana as huntress, Diana as the moon, Diana of the underworld." - Green, C.M.C. (2007). Roman Religion and the Cult of Diana at Aricia.

Well really the Goddess in Wiccan theology has no name, as does the God. They are our attempts at defining the polarity and duality of the universe. They are given names (of deities like Hecate and Cernunnos) in certain traditions or by certain lone practitioners in order to define them further into more relatable beings. No other human can truly teach us of our divine Mother and Father. For the world around us and the celestial above us are our best teachers. In my practice I work with nameless divine, only referring to them as the All-Mother and All-Father. I attribute them strongly to the polarities of the world. Mother of Earth, Sea and Moon. Father of Sky, Flame and Sun. The God rules the day and conciousness and the Goddess rules the night and unconsciousness. But that's just my outlook 😊 If you have any questions feel free to ask!
@brucenguyen15954 жыл бұрын
You can call them by whatever name you find comfortable with, actually. Names are simply efforts of human to define the unfathomable, just as with the plurality of deities. As long as you acknowledge their natures, and know in your heart who you're calling for, they can hear you.
@mreyespy134 жыл бұрын
This video is not really accurate. Original "Wicca" Witchcraft does have names for the gods. 90s eclectic wicca is more inline with this gibberish. Your not dumb. Without Initiation into Gardnerian or Alexandrian Wicca you cannot obtain the information. Online is available for anyone to post or read ;)

hello~ just a thing on the god and goddess' names! i take a lot of my practise from the Gardnerian book of shadows (though i am not Gardnerian, i just like a lot of the stuff in there) and they are referred to Cernunnous and Aradia respectively. However, in the Alexandrian book of shadows, Aradia is given a different name. I prefer giving them names in my practise so I refer to the goddess as Aradia, and the God as Cernunnous, but wicca is very flexible- do what's right for you.

Do all wiccans believe in the dieties as actual beings? Or symbols of the things they represent?
@spectre28914 жыл бұрын
Some wiccans believe that the two gods are jungian archetypes (symbols). They embody the energy of the cosmos. That makes Wicca a Pantheistic belief system

@@frances4854 I think yes. Wicca is orthopraxy meaning it's not what you believe that is important (orthodoxy) but your intention and your practice. Some Info: Some wiccans believe that All goddesses in every religion embody the one true feminine archetype. The feminine archetype has a male counterpart. The triple goddess represents the aspect of feminine energy, the maiden (birth/passion), the mother (life/compassion) and the crone (death/wisdom) Aphrodite represents the maiden aspect of the goddess. She is sensual and passionate. Hecate is the crone aspect. She is wise and patient.
