On the stage, there is a willing suspension of disbelief from the audience, allowing for little or no sets, larger acting techniques, and advancing plot using staging devices or forced narrative....all of which don't work in movies. So the movie had to go at a different pace that allowed more time to get to know the characters, set the mood of each scene, and give the film a chance to breathe and not seem rushed.

@@DidYouZThat It’s tough cause there’s a part two, so it’s hard to judge it as an individual story. As for the “reveal”, it’s also not much of a reveal since we have the other Oz films.

Good to see so many positive reviews for this one. It’s going to be interesting where it ends up money wise by the end as I believe it’s getting close to its budget but, there’s been a lot of marketing for this.

In the book the Munchkins "little" people have been interbreed with "normal" sized people in Oz that the Munchkins are not all "little" people. that is why they are not all Dwarfs in the movie.

Ariana being casted didn't surprise me as much. She's Broadway trained originally, loved wicked and the world of Oz since she was a child, met the OG cast back in the day. I knew that she would kill this and obviously Cynthia doesn't need to be defended. I will say every actor are being outshone by the lead actresses so much

@@Mel-jl8dt I can certainly agree with that last part. My only hold back with Ariana was that I’ve never seen her act in something cinematic that I’ve ever been engaged in. Broadway acting and film acting is so different. Despite that hesitation, I knew she’d kill the vocals, and I’m happy that I was ultimately in love with her performance.

Great job beginning by managing expectations of and setting the parameters for your review. . Every reviewer has to do it with this movie, but yours was clear and succinct. Many of the reactionistes are clearly still a little stupefied by what they saw.

@AnthonyAPerez i do agree. It did surprise me a little that none were. I also was like, well maybe they are smaller but compared to Ariana Grande they look average, because she is so small. Lol
