Death or The Wolf; operates more like an Anti-Hero. He’s content with waiting for people to die, (despite hating the 9 lives that cats get) but he takes action when Puss carelessly wasted his lives. He even shows that he doesn’t want people to die, since he goes out of his way to teach Puss a lesson about valuing life. Although, he does it in a evil way; he eventually gets his point across and wishes Puss to spend his life wisely. He’s a bad guy, but that doesn’t make him a bad guy.

The movie really does have you not look at the Big Bad Wolf the same way again when you revisit old stories of him. I mean think about it if he is indeed Death it does make the themes of certain stories like the Three Little Pig's theme revolving being more sensible and wise with your work and time, and Red Riding Hood's theme of not talking to strangers and straying off your path all the more important and harrowing in that regard.

The Shrek movies and spinoffs rarely have plot twist villains. Lord Farquaad wasn’t a plot twist villain and neither were Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming. Nor Rumpelstiltskin. Humpty Alexander Dumpty was a plot twist villain in the first Puss in Boots movie but he was the first one the Shrek movie franchise ever had and thus far is the only one it has ever had. Unlike the Toy Story franchise wherein half of the movies have plot twist villains

@@papermr.magolorguy7957 I agree with you. Puss’s flashback includes Mama Imelda giving him the boots and it includes him walking a bridge alongside Shrek and Donkey. That flashback could easily have included Humpty and kitten Puss hang gliding (for example) just as a nod to the fact that Puss remembers him. Especially since Puss forgave Humpty after Humpty’s redemptive death and regards Humpty as his brother. It’s still a good movie but I would have appreciated it if they had done that.

Death’s eyes can be very creepy at times, especially when wide open. It was nice to see The Three Bears crime family change for the better at the end. But if you ask me I think the grey order should be Mama, Baby, Papa, Goldi, and Death. I think you’re right, even though the village doctor is a bit coo coo, he’s still willing to continue to put himself through such hard labor for the sake of his town’s health. Not really a selfish reason. Puss recklessly wasted 8 of his lives and never valued any of them, so Death has a genuinely fair reason to be after him. He also possesses a sense of honor in the end when Puss defeated him and he told Puss to live his life as well as possible.

Personally I feel like the wrath medal should have definitely went to Death himself, he very clearly despises anyone takes life for granted or thinks their immortal and makes it his personal mission to torment Puss for the entire movie. Kitty definitely had some anger, but her light teasing and sarcastic remarks pale in comparison to the straight psychological torture that Death was doing to Puss. Most of the time, he definitely seems to be enjoying himself, but his remarks about Puss's 9 lives make it clear that he hates the way Puss just threw them away and wasted so many lives because of his pride and arrogance. P.s. his last scene where he rants in Spanish because Puss actually changed is so hilarious.

Im gonna say something people might disagree with and also spoilers Death is actually a little bit of a evil villain. Setting it aside that he came in form of an evil wolf in Grim Reaper attire to scare Puss and had mannerisms and personality of a sadistic psychopath. His overall deal is a testament of it. His objective : He never actually cared if Puss learned to value his lives or not. He wanted to kill him for wasting them. The hunt thing he did was a chase for pleasure until he finally decided to end it in the climax, it also being Puss’s life while giving him a fair chance to save himself (which for Death was a way to make it interesting before he struck the killing blow) His reason: As he said so himself, he hates cats because of their nine lives, an idea he finds absurd. On top of that to further rub salt on wounds, Puss wasted his lives thinking himself immortal and continuously saying that he “laughs at Death”, which was an insult to him. So he personally went after the hero for his insolence. His defeat : Throughout the film, he toys with Puss hoping to kill him when he gets tired. But that was his mistake. He gave Puss time to learn and improve himself, learning his lesson to value life and leaving Death with no option but to spare him as killing the cat now would be unethical. That angry rant he did in Spanish was him cursing himself for “playing with his food” since if he had killed him in the beginning, he would have achieved what he wanted, getting rid of an arrogant cat who thought himself immortal. But now Puss wasn’t that anymore so he had no choice but to half-heartedly leave him with a promise to return which almost seems like a vow of revenge. What kind of villain is he? : he is a force of nature in physical form that comes for everyone eventually, being the ultimate bounty hunter, who always gets his targets in the end. But in Puss’s case, it was more of a personal vendetta. Which was immediately but reluctantly abandoned when Puss changed himself. So, he may be a guy just doing his job like Terry from Soul. But the whole thing with Puss was his own hatred for him which shows that he can somewhat abuse his powers and come after people personally since Puss was minding his own business and it was Death that came to kill him himself instead of waiting for him to die naturally or through some accident or fight. Maybe, he is an anti-hero. In which, the Good part of him is just doing his job but the bad part of him holds grudges against people like Puss and come after them personally in a physical form which doesn’t seem very fair and natural.

In some tales, Death does appear as a wolf or dog, any canine really. We have Anubis and the Xolo dog who are more popular canines of death, but also wolves in movies like Instructions NOT included are death representations. I'll be honest, with Death being a bounty hunter seeking Puss for whatever reason he said, I thought this version of death was a rouge. Like, Death gone astray and killing without balance. I am glad to hear I may have been wrong in my judgment of Death. However, I still think he should be out down for the safety of other cats and alcoholics. People are stupid, but they still need love.

I honestly thought that Jack Horner was a broken villain because of a video I watched called "But I'm your conscience", the video started with the cricket explaining to Jack what he is and when Jack said "I really did overpack" I heard "I really did all of that" which made me think that he was treated like trash and wanted to prove to the world that he's not to be messed with, but curiosity eventually got the better of me and I eventually started seeing videos showing how evil he is, and even when I watched the movie I still wanted to make sure I didn't miss something and that he's actually a irremediable pure evil villian with no sad backstory because I haven't seen a villain like him in a LONG time.
