So. I’m a 27yr auto tech and a general aviation airplane tech too. Zips ties are a down and dirty solution for quick work ha. Cloth hand tie is was nicer but cloth wire harness lacing is far more impressive when your eyeballs look at it. Time consuming it is but it allows each wrap to work in conjunction with each other because of the link between each wrap. Kinda holds the harness shape nicer too if it moves much

I know I made the correct decision 2+ years ago when I was able to get on the list & have you build me a few custom toys. It's easy to settle for cheaper but that also relates to less quality components + lesser workmanship. I knew how BBI operates and yes I had to wait & that's fine ( YOU CAN'T RUSH EXCELLENCE ) & I don't like to settle. Thank you Luke you surprised me when you also gold leafed the board, IT'S BEAUTIFUL 😍 🤩. Luke, as far as gold leaf in your nose & eyebrows goes, YOUR NOT SUPPPOSE TO SNIFF IT. Make up brushes better to gently get the leaf on and off. They soft and fine. Also I’d take the template off before applying and cleaning n the leaf off. You can clear powder coat but clear is not and won’t be as resistant to scratch as powder coating.

If that powder coat colour has a RAL number and it's a stock colour there's really no excuse not to have turned that chassis around in a week or two even if the shop had to order in the powder. In a past life together with a partner I had my own powder coating, blast cleaning and paint stripping company. All the very best for the New Year. I forgot to add, wet spray while not as tough as powder coat will always give a superior finish so IMHO would be preferred on a base unit that's not going to get chucked around in the mobile!

Yeah I'm with you I'm not putting gold on the fan guards personally I would go with Matte Black Chrome no gold leaf period. If you wanted to Make a huge wow factor out here in Arizona we have number of people who do sign painting and beautiful pinstriping they can come up with some wild and clean that you can't even imagine that would make that gold leaf look like some whorehouse crap the fan guards against that beautiful red definitely Matte Black Chrome get you a good sign painter who does good race car work I can give you the number of a couple people personally the only call I would make would be to Squeege's Customs out Mesa way. That can solve all your problems on the front panel as far as the lettering some of those guys do some crazy fantastic work even little stuff We had a guy take one of our copper license plates for the front that nobody runs and copied that sticker from The rear plate that went on one of the roadsters that we already had registered so the information was all legit We just didn't have time to get two cars registered so they both have the same plate and that little sticker the month sticker and the other sticker that has the numbers on it The guy who did it was so good it was undetectable even a state DPS officer that we knew just about s*** his pants when he saw both cars parked side by side both with the same license plate He said he'd never guessed that it was painted on and not a sticker. I think that UPS is on a limited strike I know Amazon is as far as gold plating goes Caswell is the company that you need to get their kit you want to do anything with your boards don't put that goddamn gold leaf on that looks like s*** just plate all your traces with gold then you can solder right to him hell if you want you could come right back after you solder all the joints and gold plate all over everything the leads the solder joints every bit of it that would look cool probably the best way to do that would be to gold plate all the leads where they're shorted out so you don't screw up any transistors or any of that stuff but once you lay down the solder then you can come back and spot plate all the joints there's nothing wrong with gold plating as far as soldering into it and covering the solder with it That gold leaf ain't worth a damn I hate that garbage looks like some trash out of the whorehouse I like good painting be it like sign painting striping graphics you name it race car stuff on top of a color and then plating plating is everything you got to know all your different types of plating to make stuff really pop like chromate yellow zinc on all your hardware screws and all that kind of stuff it looks good with gold plating and looks good with that black chrome particularly matte finish black that looks beautiful against that red. Silver plating I would only use that on all the high voltage tube stuff like you normally do. The circuit card- board silver plating wouldn't look very good at all. That dry look on that powder coat you can actually very carefully take some 1200 grit paper and rub that out Little clear coat over the top it'll be fine also there's another opportunity for a sign painter who can do some nice striping graphics or something else over it the guys who really do race cars all the time those guys are magic and he can even fix all that He can even match that color exactly and fix that unpainted area I know you understand that you're the guy who didn't really specify that the paint had to be perfect powder coat is really hard to make perfect I don't like powder coat It covers up beautiful welds it makes cracks and race car chassis impossible to see It's just crappy I like paint good old fashioned nice paint with some beautiful graphics on it some stripes hand lettered nice plating on the fasteners board would look great if you were actually going plate it before you did anything else and then get all your parts plate the leads then solder it together come back and hand spot in some of the solder joints you would be making a crazy impression chances are the way you're going you might even be able to get one of those guys to come to you and handle all that there right before your eyes or you could actually sit and discuss a scheme give squeege a call Doug Jerger is his name Believe me when you get it done right your friend wouldn't mind helping you out with the costs it would blow him away He could have his champagne and steak and still be a happy guy you'd be a hero.
