These are a great idea. I’m 71 and some months SS isn’t enough and I live off my preps. So I will definitely start doing these bags.❤️

I am still trying to earn enough credits 😢 to even qualify for social security benefits. If you don't have 40 credits, you get $0. Even just 1 credit short. They raise the amount you have to make every year to get the same # of credits. Last year, between 2 jobs, I was only given enough hours to earn 2 out of 4 credits. This still leaves me 2 credits short of 40 needed. You're blessed to have had the opportunity to earn enough credits to get your Social Security benefits. Many work their entire lives and couldn't get a penny.

Jara, for those that have arthritis and other difficulties with small muscle use, there is a larger can opener called a P51. I had to purchase those because I couldn't use the little one. Amazon does sell them as well.

These are wonderful meals for the intended holidays, but would be very enjoyable any day of the year. We enjoy corned beef dinner so much that I bought an extra corned beef and put it in the freezer to have in a couple of months. I have the Solar Cooker that I bought from Amazon. It was a little more than $100. I have had some success cooking in it, but would love to see your creative ideas if you ever purchase one. I haven't found any good recipes for using it. I know it is trial & error but I really hate to ruin any food. Hope you will consider it soon. TY

Another Easter option would be a box of angel food cake and a can of pineapple with some of the dream whip on top
@Tamara_D10 ай бұрын
What size can of pineapple? Do you only use the liquid in the cake mix?
@susieramick72028 ай бұрын
Hi @@Tamara_D. I saw your post wasn't answered. Hope you see this. Use one Angel Food cake mix and dump whole 15oz. Can of crushed pineapple with juice into ungreased pan. Bake as usual. Angel food pan or a 13x9pan (which is so easy ). We like fresh slice strawberries (or blueberries) and whip cream on top.ENJOY😊 Forgot to say stir or fold by hand and bake per box instructions.

Love it! Thanks for the ideas. For the ham dinner we've made it as a stove top casserole by cooking Hormel smoked ham and the boxed potatoes in the same pot with the peas and serving the pineapple on the side. It's turned into a family favorite for days no one feels like really cooking, lol.

These are wonderful ideas as always! I know you have a large family but am wondering if you would consider doing a series on prepping meals for just one or 2. Using 3 or 4 cans of items would last me about 3-4 days; lol. Also left overs might not be a good idea in shtf if there is no refrigeration. It's a struggle to figure this out. Thanks ☘

Both meals look great. I have made a similar "cookie" (more of a candy, though) called Haystacks. Melt a 12 ounce package of butterscotch chips over low heat. Stir in a can (I've only ever seen 5 ounces, too) of chow mein noodles and about 1/2 cup of dry roasted peanuts (optional). Mix together and scoop out on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Let cool until set. You could use Reeses peanut butter chips instead. Thanks for sharing more meals in a bag.☘️

Make sure to save your cooking instructions for the potatoes and then buy the store brand mixes which don't give as many options for cooking. Then going forward you can save some money. Amazon carries Bisquick mix with cheese and garlic in the mix in the same size bag for a little "luxury"!

Great ideas. I have a question off topic. I've been looking to purchase a solar power bank for my phone. One I can easily transport in my purse. I find the choices endless. I'm wondering if you or your husband might have a few suggestions. I have an android if that makes a difference, type C. I also want to say thank you for all the great ideas. I've started to do meals in jar and bags. It's actually fun and has reduced the chaos of storing many odd items and the "now what do I do with all these beans question?"
@juliabrown594810 ай бұрын
I have tried a few and the ones that unfold into a few panels work a thousand times better than the snap rectangle ones when it comes to getting a full charge from only the sun. The rectangle ones can charge with power and then use the sun to top off the charge, with varying success. Also be sure to get a couple extra short cords (I like 6 inches long) and keep them with the charger.

@juliabrown5948 Thank you so much. I have seen those too for sale, a little more money, but if it works well, then it's worth it.
