BlaDe really is the best! He pulled up some game files to share some info for all ya'll. According to the code, Prismatics shouldn't be able to drop from regular purple gem nodes, or trash cans. And, burglar ring worked on the drop% on mummies, serpents and shadows, but not for the "Any Monster" drop for shards. Thanks for the clarification!

im pretty sure I got one from a purple gem node when I first unlocked the quarry, but it could've been a different node, I may be remembering wrong. I also use some mods, so 🤷‍♂ EDIT: NEVERMIND I CHECKED THE WIKI IT WAS A MYSTIC STONE LMAOO

Can confirm (at least for myself) Prismatic shards can be found in the trash. I don't know what magic luck monkey was sitting on my shoulder that day, but my last playthrough, I found one in Lewis's trash can in spring year one. I couldn't go to bed and save fast enough!

A little bonus : the trash can loot is decided from the start of the game so no matter what time you're at you will get get it at Lewis's trash that day

Same here! I've gotten one from the trash, from a treasure chest, a green slime, etc. all really fun and weird ways! But I also got 5 garbage hats over the course of 2 days, and have seen the sea monster 3 days in a row before as well. So my luck is bugged tf out if you ask me lol

If you put a geode crusher in Clint’s shop and you get him to open up your omni geodes and get a prismatic shard, immediately stop Clint opening and place your next geode in the crusher and it was always be a prismatic shard. I have done this a number of times.

I got my very first prismatic shard from a green slime in the secret woods and I remember being SO confused about it. I thought it could only drop from iridium nodes and by that point, I was getting to level 10 max in skull cavern. so i pretty much thought I would simply never get a prismatic shard haha

I love how I broke about 150 omni geodes in two sessions, desperately dived Skull Cavern, tried suggestions from this video (that I loved btw) and so on... my first prismatic shard was dropped not by one of those gdamn Serpents, or the magic stones... it was dropped by a small, weak DUST SPRITE in one of the level 40s of the mines. While playing co-op with my girlfriend recently (her first time playing), I spent several days in year 1 going into the skull caverns with my space boots, obsidian blade, and a dream, trying to get a prismatic shard for the galaxy sword. After several failed runs (well, at least I got some iridium for tools/sprinklers), I decided I'd go farm rock crabs in the mines for the +5 defense ring, since the main thing limiting my dives into the skull caverns was getting absolutely rekt by serpents and chewing thru sashimi like a broke college kid at an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. I didn't want to spoil WHY I wanted a shard to my girlfriend, but she was excited to help me with killing 60 rock crabs to get the defense ring. We had unlocked the mining cart, but she wasn't accustomed to using it yet, so when she attempted to come to the mines to help me, she accidentally teleported to the quarry. When she got there, she saw some metal nodes, so she figured she'd grab those real quick before heading into the mines with me. (her) "Hey, what's this swirly rock?" (me, having not played the game for the past 2+ years, looking at her screenshare in Discord) "I have no idea. I forgot those even existed" (her) *cracks it open* "..."wait, what was the thing you needed called? Prismatic shard?" (me) "WHATTTTTTT" I was out of energy and took the mining cart back to the bus stop to rest for the night, thinking she was coming with me. While I wasn't paying attention, she headed into the mines, got killed by a skeleton, and lost the shard. Thank god I had recently discovered item recovery due to a sashimi shortage. Marlon saved us from utter catastrophe that day.

Another fun way to get a really good amount of prismatic shards that I just find so fun: go to the harder difficulty mines and on the floors that spawn the jumping spiders if you find yourself lucky enough to get a spider infested floor try putting on some monster musk and clearing out the floor a few times. The enemies are pretty fun when there's so many of them all around and I was able to get 7 shards from farming the floor for about 10 in game hours. Again pretty rare floor to find but is very fun if you get the chance.

My first Prismatic Shard was from a Mystic Node that showed up at the Quarry. I was so happy because I'd been wanting one the whole time I've been playing the game. And then I found a second one from a Shadow Brute very shortly after and was even happier.

You can guarantee a prismatic shard from a mystic node in the quarry. Start your day by cracking it open, if the prismatic shard doesn't drop exit your game and reload the day. Finish your day without opening the node. Repeat the process. Prismatic shards have a 25% drop from mystic nodes, and everyday it rerolls the potential drops.

I just started playing again a few days ago. I got my first one from a chest while fishing. My second came from a slime in the secret woods. I was pretty surprised. I remember my first time playing the game, I got the Galaxy Sword completely by accident. I didn't know about the Dwarven inscription on the headstone. I just went to the desert for the first time and saw the circle on the ground in the middle of the three pillars. It looked pretty suspicious, so I went there. Nothing happened. I just decided to cycle through my items to see if I could use anything, and one happened to be my new prismatic shard. At first I was really upset that I lost it, I think I even restarted the day because of that. Of course, I went back and found out how good the sword is.

It’s pretty cheaty but you can actually multiply Shards (and a lot of objects) with a second player. If both players pick up the shard from a table at the same time it’ll be placed in both inventories

in my current playthrough i didnt get my first prismatic shard until the chest in the volcano mines, which I immediately used to get the galaxy sword. i was using the slammer before, so that was a HUGE upgrade, lol. then the next max luck day i had, i went on a skull cavern run, got to floor 50 with no prismatic shard and thought, "god what is my luck, i should've gotten at least one at SOME point..." and the second i finished that thought, i killed a serpent and got a shard. went down a floor... and got two more that run. i haven't found any since

They can be found from trash. Found my first from the bin next to joja. Second found was from fishing at willies and third was from killing the shadow mob that casts spells in the regular mine… 4th and 5th were from bombing in skull cavern.

So if you name a pet like a cat or horse [74], then you get a prismatic shard, but then save it for the Stardew Valley Fair, then leave it in the garage box thing, and the next day, go to Mayor Lewis's house, and keep on going to the Lost and Found and you can repeatedly get free prismatic shards.

i always stop the mines when i reach lv80 and go back to 40 and farm dust sprites for a burgler ring then i continue the mines and get a prismatic shard drop from the shadow guys, doing that way is almost granted that i'll have a prismatic shard when i first step into skull cavern, no more lava katana thankyou

The best way to find Prismatic Shard is going to Skull Caver on the best luck day, eat Spicy eel and drink Ginger ale ,wear 2 lucky ring, destroy all Iridium Nodes that you find. I got 5-7 on average

Note that even though you can use prismatic shards in the sewing machine to dye your clothes any color, you can use rainbow shells too. I highly recommend using them instead.

I literally had no idea they could spawn there so I was so suprised that I didn’t even do anything with it.. I just put it on display in my house. I got my first Prismatic shard by a Blue Slime in the secret woods in my first year, I was so shook because I did not think I could get it from there, I ran back to my house with it and sought to see what my luck was that day because I didn't know (I never check) And apparently the spirits were angry so that was crazy and I didn't have any luck buffs on me at all either, The same thing happened except with a bug while I was looking for amethyst, I had some wild luck when it came to getting them and it all happened within my first year of my current attempt for perfection and yuppp felt like sharing that haha. the first prismatic shard i ever got was by killing a dragon in the skull caverns, but the best way to farm them is with a master slingshot + explosive ammo and go ham breaking iridium nodes in the desert. after reaching lvl 100 i had 6 shards in 1 day!

if i make pumpkin soup (or lucky lunch, but pumpkin soup is easier to make) and ginger ale with qi seasoning and eat it before a skull caverns dive on a best luck day i usually get atleast 2-3 shards

Idk what happened but somehow I got my prismatic shard from the volcano mine, but the next time I went back it gave me a second one😭 Pretty sure my game glitched, but I'm not complaining!

Ok for the first time ever I DID just get a prismatic shard from purple stone (in the regular mines)!! In 400 play hours this is the first time I’ve ever had that happen. Crazy!!

My head canon is that Haley got pregnant at a young age and was forced to have the child (by abusive bf/parents or something). She escaped the situation, but the child was still around. I found my first prismatic shard while I was slaying blue slimes in the mines, but the I got a glitch and the play wasn’t saved, then I font my secondo one in the skull cavern and the third one always in skull cavern on level 25

I had a huge stroke of luck when I got a shard during co-op from my rainbow trout pond. Then the next day I played on my personal save file and got it from a slime on like level 15 or so in the mines.

I have only found 2 pirsmatic shards in all of my game plays (and they were in the same save file) the first one I got was on an early floor (after getting to level 100) in the mines, and it was in a bug, I was SO surprised when I saw it pop out! I immediately went to the desert amd got the sward. And the second one I found in the scull caverns, I blew up a lot of rocks and amongst them was 1 pirsmatic shard, I died in the caves and got SO SCARED that they would take it and they didn't! I donated it to the museum haha

I got mine in the volcano dungeon from the Iridium Ore, I was so confused up until it happened like 3 more times, this is also like my first playthrough by myself instead of multi-player with m friend(s)😂😅
