This is INCREDIBLY thorough. It's disconcerting hearing all the 1.4 and 1.5 stuff as "just how the game is", even though it's true. I kept going "what do you mean you can do that on your first playthrough, that's for later!" But no, it just wasn't available on MY first playthrough.

Thanks for the summary. Hundreds of hours of playtime, and still nice to refresh our basics every once in a while... One of these days maybe I'll be starting a new farm, since the old ones are too far ahead to remember what else need to be done... Great video as always :)
@Emily-lh6em3 жыл бұрын
This is the video I wish existed when I first bought this game earlier this year. It really does cover everything including some basics that are often overlooked in guide videos that are out there. A lot of commonly known things that players know about aren't things a new player will know unless told or finding out the hard way. Even though I've been playing for a few months there was stuff in this video I didn't know about so I appreciate how in depth this is. The first time I played the game I got super upset and quite after 30 mins because fish was frustrating and I didn't pick up the game again for a while until I watched a video that mentioned the training rod. It made a big difference and now i love fishing and make most of my early game money from fish. I also get a lot of gems, artifacts, ores, etc from the treasure chest. I recently got two dinosaur eggs from fishing a couple days apart. Don't give your first dinosaur egg to the museum keep it and hatch it with the deluxe barn and you'll get more eggs. They're rare! A tip for new players if im at the mines and know I'm not gonna make it hom in time I keep a chest in the mines and I empty my entire bag including weapon into it and make a mad dash outside the mines. When I faint I don't lose anything if im pick pocketed except a small fee for health care. Then I just go pick it up in the morning. Don't be afraid to eat food you find because they're not rate and collecting salmon berries gives me energy well into summer. 🌻💛😄
@Wickedy3 жыл бұрын
I've been suprised how many little things get overlooked, but then it makes sense because I know I overlooked so many things for a long time until someone would tell me something better. For the longest time I would click for every action, because I never thought to hold down the action button. It's embarrassing how long I did that. Oh and an FYI, you won't lose items from passing out even though the message may say someone was rummaging in your pockets. You only lose items from getting knocked out from your health meter, not passing out from energy or it being too late. 🥰

A few tips not mentioned in the video: (I only play PC so I do not know if these work for other devices) 1: You don't need to have your cursor next to your character to interact with things. If you keep the cursor a sufficient distance from your character, not only will your mouse buttons still work, but your character will only interact with items/things in the direction they are facing. I find this is particularly useful in combat as it is easy to lose track of your cursor when trying to fight multiple mobs (I'm looking at you Royal Serpents). If your cursor is too close, your character will turn toward the direction of the cursor when you press the mouse button, which may leave you open to vulnerable to attack. I pretty much only use the cursor when menus are open as I can plant/fertilize/water/harvest/mine/fish and fight just by using WASD to manipulate which direction I want to face. 2: How far from any land your bobber lands will impact the quality of the fish you'll catch. Of course, the distance you can cast is dependent on your current fishing skill level but choosing the right fishing spot can help. Ideally, you will want to be casting no less than 5 water tiles from any "land", but sometimes, the terrain does not afford that much space. When looking for a spot to fish, try to find areas of water you can cast into that provides the most distance from any land, this includes the other side of the river or shoreline jutting farther into the water from where you are. 3: When casting your line for fishing, you can hold down A or S when facing north or south and W or D when facing east or west to slightly alter the trajectory of your line. This will allow you to direct your cast into nearby bubbles or reach a more open area of water which might increase the quality of fish you catch. 4: When it comes to upgrading your tools, as long as you get your tool to Clint before 4pm, the current day will still count as one of the two days he needs to upgrade said tool. Use this to your advantage by using the tool as much as possible before taking it to Clint's. This applies to picking up an upgraded tool as well. (Example= Clint has just finished upgrading your axe to copper, but you still need to upgrade it to steel before you can clear the logs on your farm and the one blocking the secret woods. When you pick up your copper axe, don't immediately give it back and begin the steel upgrade. Instead, take it back to your farm and chop up all the hardwood stumps there, as well as any trees you want to cut down and THEN bring it back to Clint for the steel upgrade.) 5: Make sure you buy/sell to Clint or Robin before you hire them for a job as they will not be available until the job is complete. Most jobs take 2 days to finish but can be extended one day if there is a festival during that time. It is important to note that Clint begins his jobs as soon as you hire him, making the current day count as Day 1, but Robin does not start work until the following morning so make sure to take that into account. 6: You cannot enter an area where a festival will take place until the official time posted for the festival (the game will notify you when the festival starts) and it will end at the officially posted time if you do not want to go or do not get there in time. Additionally, everyone's doors will be locked, and all businesses will be closed. Furthermore, make sure you really want to enter a festival area before you actually enter it, as leaving a festival area, even if you just arrived to take a peek, will end the festival. Leaving a festival will automatically set the time to 12:00am so make sure you got any work on the farm you want done before you attend. Lastly, make sure you know when and where upcoming festivals are going to be, plan any tool/building upgrading around it and make sure you have as much money as you can as most festivals have a shop of some kind that sells unique items that won't be available again until the next year's festival. 7: Wild Seeds are seasonal seeds (individually called Spring Seeds, Summer Seeds, Fall Seeds and Winter Seeds) which grow the various seasonal foragables you'll find scattered across the map. Combining one of each seasonable foragable item will create a packet of 10 seeds. It is important to note that wild seeds are treated differently than actual crop seeds. Firstly, fertilizers that affect quality have no effect on wild seeds since their quality is determined solely by your foraging skill. Secondly, crows do not eat wild seed crops, so you won't need any scarecrows. Lastly, these are a great way to gain foraging xp, especially if you've cut down all the trees in the world and are waiting for them to regrow. 8: At the start of every Sunday, the world will be populated by new foragables, up to six per load zone and will attempt to spawn more every night if there are less than six. However, once you go to bed on Saturday and every change in season, all foragables in the world, the only exception being the bat cave, will be deleted and a new cycle will begin.

i just started playing today. i was trying to greet everyone and theres 3 ppl left i cant find 😭 also any tips on what we should prioritise first? i think i should start putting some crops to sell but what else do we need for quick money. i love the game even tho it looks confusing i cant wait to build my world and have a whole farming career in there haha
@Iisho11 ай бұрын
@jooi1567 For prioritization I'd say overall focus on the community center (CC) and through spring get your crops going. I really enjoy fishing mini games so I did a lot of that for quick money as well. (If you struggle with fishing use a training rod until you get a few levels up. The higher your level the easier it becomes) I also learned about the mines from this video, so I went really hard on that too bc it's another thing I enjoy. Mainly just focus on what you want to do before anything else. The only thing that takes precedence is the CC sinse it unlocks a lot of handy things. Here's a list of stuff I did during my first year though: • Work on CC • Upgrade backpack • Fish for extra cash • Decend the mines • Upgrade tools (most to gold by year 2) • First coop or barn • Raise character hearts (best done in winter when things are slow) Also, I started looking into mods and there's some really helpful ones. I.e. the "to-dew list" and there's one that implements its own wiki in-game (because you end up doing a lot of googling for this game).

If spending 20 minutes on a little farm every day makes him smile like that, it’s absolutely worth it. Hopefully this will make it fairly painless!

This is a cool guide I wish I had seen it before I started playing. It took a lot of googling and restarting out of frustration before I really got into stardew. I usually do the Joja mart route just because I tend to get impatient and frustrated with the community center bundles and for me it’s easier to just pay to access new areas 😂 I did completely the community center once though as a challenge to do it in the first year so I don’t feel like a complete Joja sell out 🤣

Special 300th comment here. I’ll be honest, prior to this guide, I’ve had no idea what in Dessie’s name I was supposed to be doing in the game. This one is really going to help me out in my PC playthrough of the game, as I’m planning to purchase that and the mobile version of Stardew Valley literally tomorrow, which is Sunday by the way. Now, for the record, I’ll still be doing my personal hardcore playthrough utilizing the item ID glitch/exploit, since it’s still pretty darn tedious and frustrating to actually get what I want, never mind need, for the farm itself. The one mentioned prior was solely for the views on KZbin, since that’s what the algorithm recommends. If it weren’t for my obligation to make the world a good place again, I’d do the Joja run in a heartbeat. That’s also the problem with indie games: they present the same frustrating “challenges” that we once had to face with video games when we could be learning it on our own, and thus we’d have to consult outside assistance. We shouldn’t have to do this, we should just be able to boot it up and learn the ropes.

I'm not born a gamer like she is, but I'm f..... doing it. She do help me stil. Now I can downloads mods as well. So funny.

How can you move the chest around? Or even the scarecrow from Set Place ?
@CrankyOldErin Жыл бұрын
@@da_figaro8723 use the pickaxe to hit the chest and scarecrow. They’ll go in your inventory (empty the chest first).

In the menu options, there's a button to lock the toolbar, so that instead of jumping to the top of the screen when you walk near it, it turns transparent. The jumping toolbar annoyed me a lot.

Be sure to takes breaks for eating and sleeping IRL, Stardew sure can become an obsession when you first start out. It was for me. Still is, but was too.
