No, the production quality does not match yours, nor that of some other popular KZbin reptile channels, but the information he provides is incredibly thorough and practical. He also gets right to the point-all the time-and does not waste time with overly-long intros to whichever subject he is covering, which I find refreshing. I also find him to be extremely generous with the information he shares. He doesn’t seem to hold back any of the “secrets” of his success. Finally, I think Brian does a good job at addressing the questions and concerns of both boa breeders, and those who simply keep boas as pets. Overall, Brian Boas is just a fantastic channel. Glad to see he got a mention here!

I'm a brand new keeper and only ready in our home for a 40 gallon for our adult male ball python. He's a rescue and tiny, about the size of a yearling. I dream of the day that I can give him a mansion of an enclosure. In the meantime, we are very proactive about enrichment in the enclosure and he gets time out of his 40 gal daily to roam, excepting the 12-16 hours post meal. The next 24 hours, I offer him the opportunity to wander freely either inside or outside with minimal handling and constant hands off supervision. Whether that feels sufficient to you or not, I'm grateful you're so vocal about small enclosures. Before finding your channel and insight, I'd heard plenty saying 40 gal is enough. Even if you were the 1st to say, "Is that really the life you want for the pet you love?", it was enough to make me think because my pride is nowhere near as important as his well-being.

I do agree somewhat, and there’s videos where I’m free handling certain snakes and I try and put a verbal disclaimer in there, but I doubt it makes a significant difference. In my opinions what’s more important then a disclaimer is presenting yourself in a professional enough way that it’s obvious your not just some bloke handling snakes We all grew up watching Steve Irwin letting taipans lick his face, without any just warnings, we don’t warn teenagers watching motor racing to drive responsibly ect So sure I think it’s a good thing to do, but there’s also an element of being being responsible for themselves

In my first 5 years on YT, I subscribed to only 2 channels - and Viperkeeper was one. VK is the major one who has let me the viewer get to really know the personalities and development of his animals over time; he tries to make the animals the stars. Importantly, he doesn't consider his collection of venomous snakes as pets - he did a big rant years ago in relating the story of a woman who bought a king cobra for her 10- or 12-yr-old son. I agree with your comments about his PV's, but I learn so much about the incredible science of snakes and venoms from his channel that are just amazing. I can't remember if you did Emzotic on the previous video. I honestly don't know what to make of her. She clearly loves her animals and animals in general deeply but there's something about her I'm unsure about and I can't put my finger on it. The last channel you reviewed in this video was harsh though dude. It's one of my absolute favourites and inspired me to not only get into reptiles (along with Snake Discovery) but really give them big, open enclosures. Yoshi, my beardy is an a massive 4'x2'x2' and my 9 month old hoggie girl, Zelda is about to move into her adult viv in a few weeks (3'x1.5'x1.5'). One day once I've gotten used to being on camera, I want to have my own videos about reptile keeping and you're a big influence on that. Keep up the great content.

I live in SoCal and I have visited the reptile zoo, I've actually considered volunteering recently 😅 and I will say MOST of the animals are beautifully cared for with a fair few exceptions. The cleanliness of some enclosures show room for improvement and some of the larger specimens definitely deserve more space, for example the croc monitors. One lizard I have some personal experience with that I feel is given improper care at the zoo is an Indonesian Bluetongue skink who has a pretty bad case of stuck shed most likely due to a lack of humidity, his substrate was bone dry. But aside from that every animal seemed to be thriving.
