Wide Angle DISTORTION CORRECTION: How to CORRECT in PHOTOSHOP

Wide angle distortion correction can be done easily. Photoshop gives us the tools to correct distortion in our images when Lightroom is not sufficient.
When we use a wide angle lens is very common to have distortion in our photos. And this distortion can be even greater when we aim the camera and lens down to make near objects bigger in our images. Many times we can correct the distortion using the Transform tool in Lightroom but there are times when we need something else.
In this video I show you how to use Transform and Warp in Photoshop to correct our image and then Content Aware Fill to create pixels for areas that need them.

Hi Pablo. Instead of content aware fill you may want to consider using the new generative fill. To get rid of the little edits try using the new remove tool. Nice image!

Thanks. I recorded this video some time ago before the new capabilities in PS. But you are right, we now have new options. Let’s just hope that Adobe give us higher resolution options with Generative Fill, but perhaps with the cost of more credits.

Yep… one quickly learns to shoot wider than you need (shoot for the crop and correction). Try using a longer lens like 50mm, take multiple images with the plan of stitching them into a pano?

Pablo, great presentation on this technique. I have been teaching this technique for several years after being show how to do it by Sean. You covered all the basics very well and gave a good demo with your explanation. I notice you had a little problem with the content ware fill on the right side of your image. That was an excellent try by expanding out the selected area. Not many people would have thought of that. You also might want to select a single area at a time (you can use the lasso too) and run it through the generative fill tool. As long as the area for fill is not longer than 1024 pixels, it should do pretty well for you. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed watching the presentation even though I was already familiar with the process.

Thanks for your comment. I did this video sometime ago. I used to have a bilingual channel with each video done twice, once in English and once in Spanish. A few weeks ago I split that channel and I am now moving still relevant English content to this new channel. The Spanish channel is Pablo GE Foto. I agree with you on the new Generative Fill. Great technology that gives us a new set of options, but with limitations as you described. As least for now, since it looks like Adobe May be giving us higher resolution options based on what they showed at Adobe Max recently. But it may “cost” more credits. Thanks again for your comment.

Nice overall, but the big problem is that the filled-in area of the trees on the right side are completely different from their reflection.
