@@vanclyde it actually didnt, sure, that justy is just a rebadged suzuki swift/cultus, but it never came with the G13B engine from the GTI(DOHC 16 valve 8krpm 100+hp etc), nor the suspension, or brakes, swaybars, etc, just came with the standard G13BA (SOHC 8valve 70 something hp) but it added the AWD with viscous clutch to it (which the suzuki did not) but swaps are quite straightforward

I had an all blacked out de badged GTI when I was 18, way back in 1990. I absolutely LOVED that little car. I bought it at a Ferrari dealership. Flat out it did 188km/h.

Sympathies from a former Swift and WagonR+ owner. Drove the hell out of the latter all the way to where aerodynamics define the limit. You dont find many good 1.3l manuals anymore. Nice one to keep the G13 in! Perception of speed > actual speed.

The 101hp G13B for the international market redlines at 7500rpm in stock form, but produces peak power at between 6500-7000rpm. It's the Japan-only G13K that is the same engine but factory cammed that revs to 8600rpm making 115-118hp in stock form

As he mentioned he didn't really trust the brakes so he can't really boot it in most areas having to brake much much sooner, as well as the tires he mentioned were "good enough" so he was just taking it easy for the most part, so to the car's limits would not have been possible under these circumstances anyways being held back in multiple ways. I'm sure the "strange" noises coming out of it contributed to that as well 😅

You know what i love about these cars? You don´t need the fastest car to have the most fun with it. In fact, you spent more time wrestling it on the track so its effectively more fun per euro driving a slow car fast, then driving a fast car slow^^

I had to Wikipedia this as I got confused seeing the body... In North America, the Subaru Justy is a small budget Subaru and has 0 resemblance to the swift. But at 1994 it looks like Subaru sold the Suzuki Swift as rebadged as a Subaru Justy... and somehow added AWD? I learn new things every day... but all in all, 180HP on that would certainly be scary fast.

There are actually a lot of small japanese awd cars. The daihatsu charade G102 1.3 txf for instance. I know the model charade 102 was sold in the usa but i think only with the 1.0 NA engine.

What a wicked little car! I once had a Polo G40 (Coupe, not steilheck) that was built/tuned to about 160whp, and I think that weighed about 810kg. That thing was an absolute riot to drive, and you're telling me this Justy is even quicker!? Madness, of the very best kind :D This is my favourite kind of build, I think.

There is a car I'm not sure you have driven around there yet. Perhaps because it was not sold there much. Toyota Seca twin cam 16 (86/87) with the large heads. 2nd gear is 100kph, 3rd is 140, 4th is off the clock and 5th is who knows. Red line is 7600. Torque is mostly above 4500, so it's a top end power engine. Not the most powerful etc, but fun. From the looks of the Subaru performance, it would give it a run for it's money but with no turbo required.

Here in 🇬🇧, my mate had a justy, i had a 1.3 swift, we never did it, but we are pretty sure the swift gearing will go in the justy box to give a better top speed/higher 5th. The diff ratios are different swift to justy (if i remember rightly) but we never figured out a higher rear diff to match, to go that way. Dont quote me, it was 20yr ago.

never heard of a subaru justy...have seen this car on those find yourself nürburgring videos and was certain this was a swift gti...did subaru and suzuki partner up and make the same car under diffrent names like toyota and subaru did with the brz/gt86 or whats going on here!?! anyway learned something new today... loved the swift gti...fun, light, fast and reliable little hot hatch...was the second car i ever owned back in 2000...drove it like a rental and over 200,000 km on the clock without ever having any issues with it. they just don´t make cars like they used to anymore!

With the larger wheels unless he properly upgraded the speedo reader in the transmission than I'd say no. With the age of the car it's likely a mechanical one, unlike more modern cars which use an electronic version that picks up via a magnet so can be adjusted for tire size

I had many Suzuki Swift. An oddity I had was a Sedan with DOHC 1.6 5 speed IIRC it was a 1992. Kept the front end when it rusted too much in the rear and swapped into an oil burner auto 1.3 1999 body.

Yeah, that was a little confusing. I was honestly hoping it was the suspension knocking rather than a backfire while accelerating. In my experience, that's not a good thing.

I wonder if he kept the rear drums or did the disk conversion and if the converted the front setup to the GTi callipers. As for the gearbox, he should really look into swapping from the 86hp gearbox to the 68hp one, misha never even got into 5th gear really and I think it would make it a lot more responsive

Hang on here a minute, the justy's in the UK were Subaru 4wd 5 door models, did every other country get 3 door 4wd models? I had a 1.3 3 door non gti fwd that the UK branded (swift) as my 2nd ever car in 2006 because they wouldn't insure me on a swift gti mk2. Can anyone explain the difference in country models and spec? The justy here was 5 door 4wd 🤷♂️

Dutch registration for cars is the dry weight. No fluids at all. If you take that value and subtract the weight saving mods, you end up with the wrong number.

@@maxbiagi3091 the car in the video has plastic rear windows. That's another 25kg (?) and no interior. Still the 7xx range seems unlikely. Edit. I looked up the license plate and the car is registered @845KG. So remove the glass and interior and it isn't too far off to believe it's in the 700kg range.

lovely car, unfortunately, knowing these cars and engines very well, the power looked stock, maybe a boost leak? These cars make 2xx whp with 1bar, so that 1.8 bar def isnt right. I have a NA one with 100hp and it seems faster than this one :(

Yes he misspoke the car is running 0.8 bar and also the car had a leak between the manifold and the turbo. Everything is mounted better now.

Actually at the slow corners you can hear a certain whistle sound it sounds like there might be a boost leak. For example 4:00 after exiting the corner, it doesnt sound like a turbo, but more like a leak.
