I may have failed the British ceremonial tea-drinking test, but my crew and I tremendously enjoyed (and survived) the sandstone climbing with Wide Boyz. We got scared, we tried hard, and it was such a great time. I am sure we will climb together again soon! Also, the entire AO's production crew cheers and looks forward to the next climbing time! For now, enjoy both videos on our KZbin channels! PS: We have a little Christmas surprise for you. So stay tuned.

these absolutely elite climbers of our time trying those routes puts the achievments of the first ascentionists into perspective. these routes were established ground up, the older ones were climbed with the rope around your chest and often times with bare feet. they were incrediblely skilled climbers absolute elite athlets even without good equipment or professional training (or ever climbing something graded harder than 8a)

Yes. Routes in other parts of the world are often run-out, but then it’s usually only high up where it doesn’t really matter. When you are 40m up a 20m fall into empty air is fairly safe. So at least you can tell yourself rationally that you are perfectly safe. These Czech routes on the other hand with the first bolt already 10m up and the next bolt another 10m up …

I agree about the cup size. The next time I see a half liter mug I'll buy one for three reasons: First, normal cups (3 dl or less) feel like they are always empty after 3 sips. Second, half a liter is the smallest amount of water I can boil with my water cooker. Third, I always feel like the tea bags have more than 1 cup in them but the second cup is always diluted and tasteless, so one big cup should be perfect.

Great video. What i am not sure about is when pete talked about climbing the first route and that it was a dangerous and scary route and graded "7a" but i heard him describing the first accent he made in norway i ghink and that ghe ,ast part of the route he did solo because of the rope drag but that it was ok because it was only 7c. A i missing something here Pete?
@morristgh Жыл бұрын
He also talked about these routes being incredibly "sandbagged" which means the grade is too low. I think Czech routes in particular are well known for being sandbagged a whole lot.

Hugely enjoyable video as always. But I can't help but wondering when seeing videos like this, who and or what "hoists" the camera-men up to their positions ?? :)
@ip2862 Жыл бұрын
The camera operators often tend to be climbers as well. In fact the end credits list a chap called Tom Randall as a cameraman; I've heard he's quite a good climber. They probably don't need "hoisting" - maybe just a rope to jumar up!

Hi Pete, long time listener, first time caller. I'm not sure if this question is best suited for you or for the lattice guys to do a deep dive into but I'll ask you first. Do you send hard routes because you have sausage fingers or do you have sausage fingers because you send hard routes? Ps. Ondra put way too much milk in that tea. You know it. We know it. Do you think this will negatively impact the adoption of the O-Grade system in the UK?
