Thank you for the painful reminder Kaitlyn. It’s so easy to get complacent. Forty plus years of climbing into stands without so much as a close call and this past November I dropped 15 feet after a climbing stick failure. I always harness up once in the stand. In spite of the fact the vast majority of tree stand accidents happen getting into or climbing out of the stand, I was not using a safety line. Never again. You and I are blessed to have only suffered fractures and are able to share our experience and encourage safe practices. I will hunt again this coming fall but for now, after surgery and two months of non weight bearing, I’m happy to learn how to walk again. Get well soon!

When I was in the Air Force I broke my ankle in training .When dove hunting many shots put me on my butt. But I was still hunting!! It's allways a crap shoot on holding low.I held low on a buck this year and he never moved.the shot went low in the buck.I got the buck but had to share him with the coyotes. I guess everbody has to eat. love you and your show.Ill be 80 this year.

You got lucky. I fell a year ago from 22’ when a strap on my ladder stand broke. I crushed one vertebrae and fractured two more and blew out 7 disc in my back. It’s been a rough road ever since, but it can happen fast. That fall convinced me to try a saddle this past season and that led me to your videos. I really enjoy them.

I'm happy you are okay and able to heal and learn from your mishap. We all have done it but most of us learn from our mistakes. I had to jump about 15 down and back from a tree when my bottom half of my climber came off my feet and went completely down the tree. Luckily I was able to hang on the top half and kick back from the tree enough not to land on the lower half of my climber. I kinda landed on my feet and fell back on my backpack I had on to soften my fall because my pack had some extra clothing in it. I learned to not go up a tree without my safety gear on since then except for maybe a few times but after hearing stories like yours over the years I've been diligent on always wearing my safety gear. I pray your healing and recovery goes fast.

You can't be too careful. Hanna's Pops fell out of tree stand recently too. He got banged up pretty bad. Glad you're ok. My stand came off a tree about 30 years ago. I was 10 feet up. Landed on my feet ON the tree stand. The fall was ok. Some part of the tree stand I guess ripped a fingernail off and something sliced my arm from my wrist to my elbow. Glasses went flying. I couldn't see anything. It was 45 minutes before day light. I could not find my glasses in the dark. I sat at the bottom of the tree until daylight then crawled around until I found my glasses and walked out. My back was sore from that for about a year. I was 24 at the time.

Sorry to hear about your fall. There seems to be a real obsession with climbing in the Hunting Industry. I have shot a lot of Deer standing, sitting, or kneeling on terra firma. Hannah Barron's Father had a Bad fall recently. If you are going to climb you have to THINK SAFETY like they teach us on the job. 3 points of Contact at all times. Don't climb tired. Don't climb if it is bad weather. Inspect your gear. Use extra ratchet straps on stands. They are cheap and camo ones are out there. Life is short enough. Don't do anything that could make it shorter.

Kaitlyn, Kaitlyn, Kaitlyn, What did Korbin call you in your first bow give a way video? GOOBER was it, Kaitlyn you GOOBER what did you go and do that for. Glad to see your okay. You remind me of myself when is was your age or maybe even a few years younger, I was hunting the farm I grew up on with two of my buddies i was up about 20 plus feet in a hang on and i remember reaching for my bow. next i was waking up with one of my friends helping me into my Dads car heading for the hospital along with my wife my two daughters where toddlers at the time. My doctor told me it would have been better to have broken my left ankle now its my built in storm tracker when weather has drastic change I know. All I can say I can not sit in a hang on stand any more the first time trying i sat and shook if it would have been a nut tree i would have shaken nuts out of the tree. Kaitlyn we all LOVE you and we need you to stay safe. That is one huge giant 6 point basket rack there now. Girl stay safe please. Larry

Don't want to rub salt in the wound but there is no reason to hold low at ten yards, your top pin should be right on at ten yards and whatever it goes till drop off which for lower pounds could possibly be 15 yards probably closer to 20. Sight in at ten dead on, for my bow still dead on at 25 yards before drop off, just pointing that out so there isn't bad info out there. Parallax does not come in play at ten yards. Sorry about the 6 and your leg, hope you are getting better.

Hey kiddo. I was wondering what happened to you since you hadn't been putting out any videos and we're in the thick of hunting season. I'm glad that you're okay yeah broken leg sucks but at least you didn't get any serious injuries and thank the good Lord that you don't have to have surgery.I was a paramedic and ended up going out to a hunting accident where a guy fell out of the tree and he was about 15 ft up and when he landed he landed on top of his stand and part of the stand pierced hisabdomen and went all the way through and we ended up getting him to the hospital and he had surgery and I don't know if he ever went hunting again after this or not but you know accidents happen and like you said think of safety first
