Housing prices are going up and up but still a lot better than Sydney. He'll be mid 30s at the end of his contract but he's been pretty good with injuries and is still fit and fast, he'll be great here. Solid defensively. Brisbane is a lot better city to live in, Sunshine coast an hour north, Gold coast an hour south, great weather, he'd do great living here for the rest of his life.

nah i believe that was a different situation.. i believe Thurston wanted more game time instead of coming from bench so he chose the cowboys.. he was behind the 2 halves at Bulldogs.. so Bulldogs were not that much at fault in that situation.. but i am not 100% sure.. i think i remember hearing that Thurston wanted to leave to get more opportunity..

I still remember during Magic Round 2021, before Reynolds had signed with the Broncos, that the Rabbitohs are making such a big mistake in letting him go... I guess now that Reynolds has played against them, scoring a try and absolutely embarrassing them, we've now seen just how much influence he had on Souths Sydney's form over most of the last decade... Rabbitohs loss is the Broncos gain, and the results show... Over the past 4 rounds, the Broncos are the BEST defensive team, conceding only 33 points, while the Rabbitohs are 12th in terms of defense, leaking 107 points... and yes, the Broncos have leaked less points than the Cowboys, Panthers and Storm over the same period of time! Having a leader and a general definitely makes the outside backs and everyone else in the team play a lot better!

Cody Walker is 5/8 just like Milford. Hottest player in the comp, 'who needs the boring old half?' but as soon as you take away the halfback ie Ben Hunt, Reynolds you're in trouble. You can get away with an average 5/8 but you can't get away with an average halfback. For the record I dont think Milf and Walker are average, they're tremendously talented but you can't thrive without the half.

South’s have made the same mistake Brisbane made when they kept the dynamic Milford and let the organiser go. Adam is far better than hunt and Milford put together but both Brisbane and now south’s and the tigers did it with benji and Scott prince. Fell in love with the highlights reel and forgot all the work that leads up to it and the superstar that lights it up with his 7 touches a game doesn’t suddenly do it 80 times a game because he gets it more.

It does look a bad move but the proof will be in the pudding further down the line. If he performs at this level and stays injury free for the remainder of his contract then probably can call it the worst decision in the last few years but a lot can happen in that time frame. When you factor in his age etc he will probably start picking up more injuries. Ironically he’s not playing this week

@ Liam H - exactly right. These headlines are such clickbait. Souths knew he was still in good form so they offered him a one-year contract but he wanted three years. Brisbane were willing to give him three years. No one will know who got the best of this deal until three years from now - but of course the media need clickbait today. And if Souths had given him three years they would have lost the young player coming through. Sometimes in life you just have to make the tough calls and this was one of them.

Adam Reynolds was getting more likely to miss games through injury, his body is not that well. He's OK at Broncos...so far. He was offered first a 1 year contract, then a 2 year contract. He chose not to sign. Had he been given a 3 year contract, firstly, Lachlan Ilias would have left, then we'd have to have started looking for another half and people would have whinged about that. Secondly, had Adam stayed for 3 years, 3 of our spine -- Adam, Cody and Damien would have retired at about the same time. This way Ilias,( and remember he was a talented junior) will hopefully be experienced when Cody and Damien go.

It really depends how Reynolds plays next year and the year after.... He wanted a longer deal at Souths but they didnt wanrt to take the risk with his injuries. I do agree though, they were crazy to let him go

Also depends on how Ilias performs over that timeframe. The young halves at Souths needed a pathway to first grade, else they'd find it somewhere else. The club obviously rates them and weren't prepared to just try their luck on the market in a couple years' time when they would need replacements for Reynolds and Walker either way. I'm sure they would have loved a crystal ball, but 10 rounds is a pretty ludicrous amount of time to judge their decision. I would personally have kept Reynolds and let Walker go, but Cody won the game of musical chairs by agreeing to the club's terms first.
