Sounds like that the scammers talked these people into taking out a home equity line of credit in order to use the money for private mortgage lending. Usually private mortgages charge much higher rates than traditional banks, up to double or more and also charge high finders fees and admin costs. Its a very risky venture to begin with, since the only way to recoup your money is if the borrower sells their home and pays you back, or another lender steps in to cover the amount borrowed. Real sad what happened to this family, this sort of thing unfortunately happens quite often and this man went out and did what most of us wish we could do to those who wrong us and our families. The male fraudster had a history of doing this, and his family probably enjoyed a lucrative life style from it. Alan Kats just saved countless people from being victimized by this fraudster, by sacrificing his own life. RIP to a good man.
@DwightStJohn-w1l6 ай бұрын
the couple ripped off is a LOT younger than I expected. even the legitimate section of this kind of industry in Canada (advertised by a former Olympic skater and news caster that OWNS the company) it's still risky and you should use only stand alone capital. Basically , the rip off would mean he'd have ten to fifteen years recovering his credit rating and life. AND the biggest insult is it's your own people, your own culture, in a country far from the village. Sad.

I asked if the truck had been reported stolen and they said "no". The officers eventually gave them a tress passing ticket. The woman did not show up for three court appearances. I was told if she did not show up for the third court appearance there would be a warrant for her arrest. The judge did not issue a warrant however. She moved to a different town and I have no idea where. I have requested an investigation into the RCMP. They dropped the ball on the investigation for months and finally started it. People would feel differently if we still had a functioning justice system, the very point of which is to divert the natural and understandable impulse for vengeance to a process that yields a more civilized outcome. We have no civilized justice in Canada, so it's back to frontier justice. This tragic outcome shouldn't be placed at the feet of Mr. Kats.

Surprised a few tenants haven't been whacked with proletarian backing governments in Ontario and BC, all laws favor tenants, to support unlimited immigration that our government avoided preparing for, but still lavish themselves with massive virtue signaling, while inflation ravages the regular population. We need a full house cleaning provincially and federally.
