My wife and I have been watching your episodes for several weeks now. We started from the beginning and are now on episode 41. I love what your're doing, but I love all the more that you and your dad are Christ followers. I can see your dad's patient character though he rarely speaks. I can also see your strengths as a young leader and man of vision. James 1:2,3 is a good explanation of what is going on in your endeavor. Thanks for your testimony in both words and deeds.

I really enjoy your videos. I am 68 and as a kid I had 2 friends whose dads had tractors and I would sometimes get to help out and drive one of those tractors that were probable as old as yours. I also drove one while working for an orchard. One thing though. I cringe when I see you pulling logs or that giant boulder from the rear. One of those dear friends of mine was trying to pull out an apple tree stump going forwards. The tractor reared up over him and took his life. He was not quite 30. We grieved for years. I know it was a stupid mistake. Perhaps he accidentally gunned it or his foot slipped off the clutch. But I watch you and wish I was out there. Nothing like working out in the woods. Mans Work!!

I've been a faithful watcher of your videos, but don't believe I've ever made a comment, so it's time I did. Simply put; I want to thank you and your dad. It's enjoyable to see you both working together in the woods with a common goal. I don't have that opportunity due to cancer taking my dad almost 12 years ago. Keep posting videos and I'll gladly keep watching them!

Thank you for showing us these indirect challenges of keeping a homestead property. A lot of channels skip things like this over. But a city kid like me wants to learn the whole story. I don't have relatives who will be teaching me these things.

Wow. What a beautiful father/son project, and I don't mean just this episode...the whole campaign. I admire the work you and your father are doing although it makes me jealous and sad because I wish my Dad was still around so we could do something like this. Great to hear your grandfather is still with you, he must be very proud of what you are doing. Wonderful life lessons for all of us. I’ve noticed that anything The Outsider and Senior do is done slow and steady. There’s no rush to complete a task, which could cause problems. Yes, they have a deadline that’s weather-related, but nothing instituted by sponsors. I eagerly await episodes of the cabin built on a budget. And, I echo what others have said about how relaxing and calming they are. My wife now watches the videos, and it’s unusual for her to be interested in the same thing as me. We keep The Outsider family in our thoughts and prayers.

Love your videos. I used to live in the country and work every year cutting and processing firewood. I think that work and other work that I had to do kept me in some kind of physical shape. I moved to the city 19 years ago. Now I huff and puff at simple tasks of walking up a couple of flights of steps. As far a widow makers......someone dies every year in the woods hunting or cutting firewood from trees such as the ones in this video. The threat is real. May you and your dad stay safe while your in the woods.

I came across your channel a couple of days ago and have been, "sort of", binge watching. I have to say that the videography and narration are excellent. The subject is what drew me, but the content has got me hooked. Can not wait to see the finished cabin. Yet, we all know there is never a finished project. I enjoy learning and teaching bush craft skills and I have been blessed to work in some amazing wilderness areas. Having said that... I am not a "Wilderness Prude". Taking advantage of technology to efficiently accomplish a task/goal can be more eco friendly than the, some times, wasteful practice of a "Misery Whip and a team of ponies". I was particularly impressed with the use of safety equipment (PPE... Chaps, Hard hats, eye protection) and the emphasis on reducing and/or mitigating risks. Hard hats are not just for vengeful squirrels... even though Farmer Ins. HAS covered it. Keep up the good work.

I’ve been binging on your videos today... Loving everything I see!! Really like you and your dads drive!!!i do wonder (maybe because I’m an engineer), but each time I see you use a leverage tool it is almost always only two legs of a triangle the ground is your third but if you use a third in the same design it could stand on its own, and you the operator could be safely far away..... keeping your hands near a cable wench under thousands of pounds of pressure could be a limb loss in the blink of an eye... just want to see you have your son doing this work some day and you helping him with all your limbs.... and safely, happily, laughingly enjoying your time together.... take care. I hope to see you soon...😎

@MrMinimalst6 жыл бұрын
Dean Barr agreed, that tractor is badass!
@Grumpy_old_Boot6 жыл бұрын
Well … to be fair, it's actually fairly easy to beat their power, just about every tractor does it nowadays. However, it's a nice and compact tractor, that works very well in constrained areas. And if the Massey is well cared for, it will work for years, and years, and years. :) Something which modern tractors are not really designed for. They really need their regular servicing.

I'm sure you noticed all the dead limbs of the tree holding the widow maker. I would get a pole saw and try to remove as many of those as possible especially on the trail side. There are probably a lot of other trees along the trail with small widow makers like those that would be good to be removed.

When you are in the bush it is always important to keep your eyes up. Sometimes it isn’t as obvious as this on leaning across your trail but just as deadly 30’ above your head. That maple looks to be partially spalted. You will have some beautiful wood if it shows in the boards you cut. I look forward to the next cabin video.

As a former woodworker it's driving me nuts because I can see alllllll of the gorgeous spalting in your firewood. If you'd put that through the sawmill and sold it off you could have gotten a hell of a lot of money for it lmao
