I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this theme correctly but I sure hope so because it's so tragically beautiful the irony. Much like "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" it's not just a lie but a clear sweeping away of the bigger truth: Not only does money 'grow on trees' by physical means, being made of paper which is made from trees,wood, etc. but the destruction and repurposing of said trees. Furthermore, the needs and wants attained by money can and often are done so in extremely destructive ways, both to nature and to humanity. Sticks and stones can surely cause physical harm, where words (the pen mightier than the sword and all) can build up and break down people as much as any stick or stone could, some can argue words can leave psychological scars which never heal compared to the physical ones left by sticks and stones. *But I could just be reading way too much into this beautiful song too lol*

Money is made of cotton.. That doesn't matter though. All that matters is that it's a medium of exchange used to measure value. The only thing that makes it valuable is majority consensus. Having a limited supply, versus fiat currency, is also another quality to understand. It's all very complicated, but I won't waste your time. I do love this song.
