My teacher always tells me to keep my fingers close to the string when playing tricky passages... good advice! But then I see Maxim Vengerov and Ray Chen reach for the stars and catch a few aliens when they play and I don't feel as bad lol.

And on the other side you have Kavakos whose fingers look like they barely move at all half the time :-)
@MangoGalaxyYTАй бұрын
It’s different, for some teachers they prefer their students prepare their fingers above the string at all times to ensure accuracy, while for others they prefer their students dropping their fingers down on the string from high up for that clean finger articulation.

As much as the duet content split is definitely not even, I certainly appreciated this having a brother 6 years younger than me. Actually had a duet we could play when we were kids (albeit not this good) rather than having to either do something incredibly simple when he was young, or waiting for him to be experienced enough for something like the bach double, which he is only finishing up now while I'm gone for college.

wonderful video and great music by the both of you. Thanks for posting. Ray Chen is surely gifted, but Daniel Jang is very gifted also, at least to these ol ears. Ray plays a Stradivarius. As a professional, does it really make a difference? Honestly, as a non musician in any sense, I cannot tell the difference. Also, Rob's video is as usual, excellent. He is definitely very talented.

This was fantastic! I hope to be that good one day. Daniel, I have a question. What kind of violin do you have (not like I'd be able to get an advanced violin)? I am trying to find an intermediate violin to take me through college (and I hope to be in a professional orchestra one day). So far, I have found a Guarneri that I really like.
@vishalsubramanian20512 жыл бұрын
Well he plays a real Stradivarius, I’m not sure if you have a real Guarneri it’s probably a copy. Because guarneris go for millions. And it’s definitely not an intermediate violin. But u can get an intermediate one at a nearby store.
