The chevron on those gloves needs to be clocked 90 degrees so they point out to the sides and not the ground.
@rasmusvedel11 күн бұрын
Doesn't matter. Cars aren't going to be able to, or particularly focused on, the shape of the indicator. The important thing is just that it's visible.
@RyguyAB11 күн бұрын
@@rasmusvedelexcept those drivers that do notice, as well as other cyclists and those of us who wonder why such an obvious silly choice was made. I noticed this issue the instant I saw the gloves before even seeing the footage of them turned on and questioned why it was done that way. While it may not "matter" in the strictest sense that they could have used any arrangement and orientation of lights and just relied on it being on the hand that is sticking out from your body in the direction you intend to turn but, in choosing to use a chevron or arrowhead, it is inexplicable from a semiotics standpoint that you wouldn't use the chevron's orientation as a directional signal as well.
@jackleville54611 күн бұрын
If they made a wristband out of it, you could use it with any glove you want. It would also greatly reduce production cost for them, because with one or two sizes they would be able to serve just about everyone. Instead of having multiple types of gloves in multiple sizes.

Best rear light I've found so far is the Rockbros Q5. It has both a motion sensor and a light sensor, so it only lights up when the bike is moving after sundown. That means maximum runtime and I can never forget to turn it off after a drive, or forget to turn it on before I leave. Once it's charged up, I just screw it onto its mount and do not touch it until it's run out of charge again. The light figures out when it's needed and when not, which is super convenient! Oh and it also has brake detection to alert whoever is behind you. I've looked for other lights with both motion+light sensors, but could not find any.
@kuchenblechmafiagmbh13819 күн бұрын
The Sigma Blaze has the same functionality, in the bright it will turn on but only does brake light and without any movement it will automatically turn off after approx. 9 minutes. I have it and like it, only downturn is the rubber-ring mounting, I just finally got the proper Handlebar mount for my Supernova Airstream after 10 years of using the stock mount with rubber rings - and constantly re-adjusting it every few kilometres, I prefer a plastic or metal seatpost clamp that gets screwed on with a quick-release for the light to take off and recharge. They also offer a "Link" bundle with a version of the Blaze and the Aura 100 headlight, seemingly when you turn on the headlight, that rear light also turns on.
@staticv35709 күн бұрын
@kuchenblechmafiagmbh1381 thanks for the tip! The Blaze looks nice, if only there was a sturdy mount for it and it charged via Type-C.

I always struggle with the mounts instead of the light itself. I have resorted to rockbross lights that have been in my bikes from 2019, but they rattle a lot. Quite embarrassing in rough roads, but they last a full night ride and some.

The only thing I'd like to mention as a side note to everyone: please try to angle your lights slightly downwards so you don't dazzle others. I try to angle my front lights a tiny-tiny bit to the right and slightly down (EU) so there is less chance of my lights hitting someone straight in the eye.

The rechargeable glowing ankle straps are great for being seen at night, because your pedaling motion attracts more attention than a regular tail light. I bought mine for about $3 USD....One charge last a couple of hours.

@ingulari3977 reflectors are good, but the straps light up, not just reflect. If another driver or cyclist doesn't have their headlight on, then reflectors won't be seen to them. Also in the USA, rear lights should be red. Those straps come in green, red, blue, and amber.

Ah good to know about the gloves and the vest and the like, thanks for showing. See i happen to live in Germany and the regulations are almost unreasonably stringent here, you're not allowed to have lights on your bike for which there's no official permission, K-number and test certificate. This also goes for reflective elements, though as far as say applied tape on the frame there's various opinions, it goes into grey area territory. Well you can clip random headlights to your handlebar and it's perfectly fine as long as you don't use them on the road and don't potentially blind oncoming drivers, but if you need extra lighting on a forest trail just have at it, they don't need to be regulation. But i'd really like some turning indication and thing is while lights on your bicycle are regulated, the garments are not, you're allowed to make yourself into a Christmas tree if you care and i'm absolutely going to test the limits of this legal loophole.
@maxritter786811 күн бұрын
German laws are ridiculous at times. The bike part of the StVZO specifically feels like it was written when carbide lamps were still a thing. I've switched to using a headlamp as a headlight. Doesn't need to be StVZO-konform so price is lower, can be as bright as you need it to be, is unlikely to blind people since you'll be shining down and is available at all sorts of price points with whatever battery life you need. It also works a lot better on a mtb. Normal headlights just bounce around out on the trail, a headlamp will track wherever you are looking.
