The American Psychiatric Association came to that conclusion in 1973. If Meeza Sayyed is right, then shouldn't being straight also be "a mental state where you think you are one but actually you aren't"? The majority of humans are right handed because the left side of their brain is dominant, but then randomly children of right handed parents are born left handed. My son is the only left handed person in the whole family. How does that happen? Very likely it is something genetic that leads to that. So also it is probably the combination of genetics that leads to children being born who are attracted to the people of the same sex as themselves. One thing is for sure, being left handed or being homosexual is NOT a state of mind that can be changed and it is not a choice. Was recently watching the American Idol audition video of a young man named Jon Wayne who was raised by his grandparents. His grandfather stopped talking to everyone for a whole year and a half after his wife (Jon's grandmother) passed away. Finally the old grandfather admitted to his grandson that he had always been gay despite being in a loving marriage. So religion and family/social pressure can force a gay person to live a heterosexual life. But living that life is a terrible suffering for them because they still stay gay inside.

I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with the answer to the first question. It's not about the fact that she has a past, it's about full disclosure. A lot of people place importance on chastity and sex is a big deal for them. This is their preference/standard, so no, you're not allowed to ridicule them. Such people would also guard their own chastity and fight urges. Now after all that, if they got into a marriage without knowing that their partner has a past (especially extramarital affairs), that is straight up unfair on them. It's ridiculous to justify that. And it's perfectly reasonable grounds for divorce. It's always better to reveal such things before marriage to ensure your potential partner is comfortable with that. That way, neither party will be in for a nasty surprise after such a huge commitment of marriage. If they aren't comfortable, they can leave. And it goes without saying, all of the above goes for both genders. The same standard applies. I would agree that it's unfortunate that in our society men can get away with such things and women can't. If men can be forgiven and not ridiculed by society for this, same should apply to women. Or if women have to face condemnation for such activities, so should men. We should work to fix that, but that's a different topic under gender equality. Lastly, people need to take responsibility for their actions. You can't make bad decisions and then run away from them or hide them. I'm not saying tell the world, but learn how to take responsibility and face the consequences for your actions. Everybody messes up at times, and there's always room for forgiveness and growth, but that doesn't warrant a lack of responsibility. The world would be a better place if everyone started taking responsibility for their actions.

With regards to the first question, I think you should know what your partner's values are before choosing to discuss your past or withhold information. At 29, I am now in a position to consider marriage and one of my big concerns is what happened here. In my case, if pursuing arranged marriage I would tell the woman that it's very important to me that neither of us have been in a past relationship. I always had a sense of responsibility and never tried to mess around in my childhood because the end state of a romantic relationship is either marriage or dissolution and I was not ready for marriage and I did not just want to play with a young girl's heart for fun, there was also the religious point of view of such relations being haram in Islam. Now I find out that society has become very corrupt these days and you can't even trust the virtue of a Pakistani woman anymore. I'm extremely disappointed and feel like my restraint and resolve was wasted. Now I believe that even if I were to ask such questions, the girl will always say that she is a virgin. She could be lying or telling the truth and I will never know. My solution now is to let go of my values and assume that every girl I meet will have a past, and so I should just go out there and find myself a girlfriend before thinking about marriage. If I've also been in relationships, then I will not be concerned with my wife's past. That's the plan I have for now, what do you all think?

I appreciate the responses from you ladies and I am aware that there are plenty of good women out there. My concern is the fact that society has poisoned my brain. I find myself thinking, what if I am the type to be suspicious? "Shakk ky bemari" as they say in Urdu. I don't know if I will be like that after marriage because I've never been in a relationship, but if I have that poison in me, should I even try to get married? What if I marry a nice girl who kept herself pure, but I am constantly suspicious of her because of cases like the one in the video. *Junaid Bhai This Comment is Important. I Suggest You To Read* A salam Junaid Bhai. This comment is about the first case i.e. “Effects of Childhood Relations on Marriage”. I don’t know should I write this comment or not because it could hurt more to the girl who have send that email but reason behind for writing this is to remove some misconceptions. First of all in my view in that case the girl is totally guilty because in my eyes trust is the most important thing in any relation so before getting married to someone you should clearly tell him about all your past and your relationships even though it is a physical one or a non-physical one and this same thing also applies to boys not only girls that they should also clear their past. Now second thing which I want to add is that girl has told she is Muslim and still being a Muslim she is into adultery that is one of the most forbidden acts in Islam. So, if any boy or girl marries any other person who is a Muslim then he has a common belief that the other person has never been in any relationship especially the physical one because it is forbidden (Haram). I am a man of age 22 years and for the same reason I have been never into a physical not even a normal relationship because I have read Quran with translation and from that you can easily get the point that if you have any feelings for any girl first ask her and then make her your Fiancée according to his will not forcefully and then marry (Nikkah) her. So when you are saying that “there is an age when there is an rush of emotions and hormones at that time you were sounding like that it is ok to be in any physical relationship at that time” so my suggestion is that this point should be cleared out. Third thing which I want to address that these are the issues which haunts me a lot when I am always thinking of moving aboard because when any Muslim who from his childhood has been living in any aboard country there is a large percentage that he may get into such things which not only make him a hell person but also his parents like adultery, drinking wine, drugs etc. And what is more irony is that my relatives who are living aboard have the same reservations. See I never say don’t do hard work or advancement and independence is not good but my point is we have also a life hereafter and we should also think about it and if we do hard work with also following Islam then we make a more better society and live a more contented life. It is like (Islam + Hard work = Contented life with advancements) but (No Islam + Hard work = Advancement with no contentment). This is also the same reason why we have established Pakistan because in India we can also flourish but on one condition that is “no Islam or sabotaging of Islam”. Well I guess this comment is getting very long so if anyone has any issues related to it. I can debate on it because still many points are not covered in this comment and there is a much more to say. In the end I just want to say I don’t want to light up more fight in that couple and I guide them forgive each other and also promised each other to not to hide any off their issues from now on and build a new happy life on the base of trust.

What hypocrisy! Your answer to the first question was very disappointing. I understand you have to show yourself intellectually but giving answers like these will only promote this filth even more. Everyone has a past? Its okay to be physical with someone but hide it later from your spouse? What are you trying to teach to the youth? Islam doesn't allow any of that and this case was clearly the result of everything you told youth should do and see where it has ended up. Girl committed adultry and even after her marriage was fixed, then hid it from him and when he found out from someone else now she's the victim? You have built a big audience and you should be responsible for the things you say now. Just imagine a Muslim girl or boy listening to this thinks that it's okay to have a physical relationship before marriage and later I'll just hide it, you should be responsible for that disaster!
