In the previous video we learned how Kratos was able to summon the God of War, Hades and obtain the power to destroy his enemies. Now we will see how things unravel as Kratos has to deal with the consequences of his actions in servitude to the Gods.

The thing you gotta remember about old school religions is that they were supposed to explain the randomness of nature. Plagues, miscarriages, madness, volcanoes, earthquakes, typhoons... it just keeps going. All of that was supposedly the doing of the gods and so having them portrayed as capital A assholes is in character.

Alethia forsaw the god of war destroying Olympus so she convinced Kratos to stop Ares, the problem is that once Kratos killed Ares he became the new god of war and would later destroy Olympus himself, in trying to prevent her vision from coming true she actually ensured it.

When kratos made his plea to Ares: He and the God of war made a deal. Ares would give power, weapons, and dispose of the barbarians. In return: Kratos had to swear loyalty and he promised to serve Ares for his lifetime. The moment he was tricked, Kratos knew he couldn't serve Ares. He did break an oath he wouldn't of made if he knew beforehand. The furies long ago came to Zues seeking to serve the gods and would punish those who break their promises to the gods. That giant being Kratos was imprisoned in was a hecatonceres. (a giant being with multiple limbs who was the first to break a blood oath to zues. As an example the furies made him trapped but alive to use his body to imprison others that have broken their promises to the gods. (this was told in a cutscene in ascension to give understanding of why the furies do what they do and what they intend to do to Kratos.

You need to think about the family tree... Zeus is both Aries and Kratos father, his brother make Kratos kill, Aries own Sister in law, and Niece... Orthos, being Kratos own nephew saw his Uncle done dirty by his own father, a father that viewed his son as a failure, Orthos could not release the bond that protected Aries from Kratos, so Orthos led Kratos to the right direction, to have his revenge, and eventually replace Aries, with Orthos dead, the people bound by oaths, were set free.... allowing the bound to ascend....

If you play the games in the order of kratos's life, god of war ascension is the first game you play, it's set 6 months after the death of his wife and daughter, after that you play chains of olympus, god of war 1, ghost of sparta, god of war 2, god of war 3, god of war 2018 and god of war ragnarok
