You may have forgotten to bring a head lamp (I've done the same myself) but these rental planes ought to have instrument lights that work. It's not expensive to fix that stuff and make the plane safe to fly at night.
@RusscanFLY11 ай бұрын
Yeah, the lights worked in the main panel, but a few things were hard to see.

Nice return flight Russ. I try to always start my night pleasure flights out in daylight because it allows me to slowly transition into night ops like in this video. Thanks again for producing another great video.
@RusscanFLY11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I will say the only thing I wish I was more prepared for, was having a headlamp in my bag. Luckily, there were lights in the instruments, if not, it would’ve been a different set of circumstances! Lesson learned!
@PilotSavvy11 ай бұрын
A pilot can never have too many lights available in the flight bag at night and and as I found out on an instrument training flight flying into a dark cloud in broad daylight.
@RusscanFLY11 ай бұрын
@@PilotSavvy I definitely agree, and understand your comment for sure. I definitely learned that lesson for sure.

I just subscribed today so I'm trying to catch up. At 8:28 going along the Hudson corridor you were explaining that "A lot of those...the JFKs and that kind of stuff, the Newarks (airports) aren't an issue because they don't come over this way....I don't know if they're allowed over here....commercial aircraft?--eh." Right. However, there was ONE TIME anyway, about 15 years ago when Captain "Sully" landed his Airbus 320 right there in the middle of the Hudson along your route! 😃Thanx for the videos.

Thank you so much for subscribing, and supporting the channel in this very special way. I greatly appreciate it! And yeah, what officer Sully did on the Hudson is truly incredible. Definitely took the meeting of scenic tour to a new level! Take care, and thanks again for the support!

Great stuff! Best flight ever, every pilot should enjoy those views! I fly out of 39N a lot (when I am not in Georgia, my home base), that NYC flight is my favorite thing to do ever 😀. I’m a CFI, making some safety video, and the next one I am working on it about bird strikes and near misses. Is it cool if I show a clip of this when y’all are over the VZ bridge and saw the birds? I’ll definitely give you credit! Thanks Russ, keep up the content!

Hey Nathan, I would be honored for you to use anything you think will be helpful for a student pilots. This is definitely one of my favorite flights, but definitely made me respect the process the first time I flew this corridor, I flew with another season pilot, and it just took my breath away. So yeah, feel free to use any part of the video, you desire. Fly well, and thank you for serving student pilots!

Whoa, Russ. It looks like you have wifey agreement on getting your own airplane. That's HUGE! There is absolutely no way I would have been able to be an airplane owner without buyin from my wife. Also, you pulled out a sweaty butt crack reference in this video. Not sure what I think about that. Nah that's a lie. I know exactly what I think about that. 07:04 recommendation: always visually inspect the fuel selector and ensure that it's in the detent you intended it to be. 07:44 really like the situational awareness here 14:25 re: headlamp, recommend getting one from sportys or aircraft spruce. the one I got from amazon is WAAAY too bright. The ones that are aviation focused have a much more appropriate brightness level and you don't lose your night vision. 15:15 Landing looked pretty smooth. Nice!
@RusscanFLY11 ай бұрын
I know, right! I definitely wanted to make sure that it was documented that it looked like there was support for the prospect. Now, we just need the finances to match the wheel! Yeah, I couldn’t remember that I made that reference. Sometimes the little boy and me comes out! Also, I did recognize the need for a headlamp for sure. Luckily, I was able to find the switch, and I was able to see most of the instruments. There was definitely a few that would’ve been helped. Buy a headlamp. Definitely going to keep one in my Flight bag! Be well, brother!
