nice film and great to see the 'duplex' engine come to life. the cranks are 180 degrees apart? and the engines about 20 degrees. i will try and build one and see how it goes. thanks Ade... our wood pellet central heating boiler is in my workshop so always a toasty sanctuary.

Superb! I really am going to have to have a go at building one of these soon. Could the 3mm be due to you measuring the standard distance but not accounting for the angle offset? So it should have been a PCD measurement from the centre of the crankshaft rather than a straight parallel distance from the centreline. Something that's tripped me up recently on a measurement of 67mm from a centre, have me about 4mm of error.
@AdeSwash
@AdeSwash 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, its a good theory, to be honest I am not sure how I made the error, just glad I managed to rectify it :)
@dreamsteam8272

interesting .... i would have been afraid that the three millimeters difference in height would block the steam inlet and outlet. Because the distance describes a radius on the outside diameter of which the steamports of the components lie, and the change in the radius affects the angle of the cylinder for the valve function. But certainly forgivable on this scale ..... grwat work and very informative! stay healthy Ade !!!
@AdeSwash
@AdeSwash 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did think about that being a problem also, so I added a small countersink to the cylinder inlet to upen the diameter of the mouth, not sure if it was needed but just thought it may help with the problem

Good work, I love the simplicity of your engines. I think that these are an ideal intro into model engineering. The fit and finish of your creations is excellent. There are far too many channels demonstrating poor technique, which encourages sloppy work. Be interesting what you decide to do next. I am at that stage of “in between projects” I have been enjoying some quick and simple engineering or perhaps displacement activity before tackling something challenging. By the way, I still put holes in the wrong place and scrap parts, despite measuring twice or three times.

@AdeSwash

Hi Allen, I dont have inch plans, but there are only a few dimensions which are critical and this is the distance between the axle and the pivot rod, and the port holes. These convert to 2 21/32 and 15/32 or 2.660” and 0.470”. The distance between the port centres convert to 15/64. As for the cylinder bore 19/32 is 15mm. The rest of the sizes are arbitrary, so the axle could be ¼” and the bearings ½”, outside cylinder 1”x ¾”. The rest of the components and chassis make to approximate conversions, it should still run fine

@@AdeSwash I noticed that you used to different sizes10 mm and 8mm for the crank connector is there a reason
@AdeSwash
@AdeSwash 2 жыл бұрын
@@allendustin2837 the later engines use 8mm. It was simply an aesthetic change, as I felt the 10mm was a bit chunky

It's been a while since I 😌 and wanted to say Hi 👋. From Keith of Michigan. On Thursday we had a holiday, and on the same day, we had snow ❄ in my area, for the first time 🙃. I didn't know If I told you that I have my new Lathe, and placed it in my basement 😀. I just started to buy some material. Then I'll contact you about drawings, to build your running engine's. Take care now, it's almost December...
