I was there that night. The most electric atmosphere i have ever felt in a game. The tension was unbelievable, the crowd screaming and chanting non stop, every tackle every pass made we reacted. The game was fast and hard as any i can remember. Every player was fighting for any bit of space he could gain. That night every wigan player must have took 2 hours to come down off that. I remember the fireworks you could see but not hear because of the chanting and screaming of the crowds singing that famous wigan chant "Here we go, here we go here we go" even the women was screaming with passion. Never again will i experience another night like that.

Wow. Just wow! Was working behind a bar in Hindley that night and I could hear the crowd 4 miles away as I was walking to work.

Early days in the development of a great team. This was the best sporting occasion I have ever experienced. God knows how may people were really there. Electric! Stephenson was a great kicker.

@J G If "Soccer" is so great why don't you support an Australian Team? Is because they are all crap just like your beloved Manchester United at the moment. A team Light years behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Sad to witness how far English RL has fallen since those heady days of the 80s and 90s. No characters ,no atmospheres. I don't even watch the highlights of "super" league any more.

Superleague and sky have killed league. Watched the grand final on saturday and it was just running straight into the opposition and repeat. No magic spark or flair anymore. Rip rugby league

Footy is dying Australia as well. When i was a kid playing junior league it would take all day, with multiple teams playing on different feilds at the same time, just to get through the list of games. Now they're struggling to get enough kids to make up 2 teams for each age group.

yeah, bring back more head/brain injuries and damaged necks and shot knees and backs from wank/dangerous tackles and punching you fucking plum! It's a shame 😔 to see the game nowadays. When Superleague first got started and then had the world club challenge as part of the regular season, it was electric. The fact is there are a lot of options for kids and families 👪 to spend time and money on like tiktok gaming and Netflix. I just hope the managent and clubs on both sides of the world 🌎 (Australia) can work together and give us something we can make great again.

Take out the high shots and cheap shots, play the game in the same manner as this and rugby league wouldn't be in the trouble it's in in England. Spent twenty+ years trying to speed the game up but it's no quicker than this. Why have the powers that be ruined it???
