My compliments again Wiggy. The piracy mechanics have improved but I still don’t see why: 1) the collectors should’t work as long as the relative speed between the two ships is the same (we are in space after all) 2) why the hatch breaker should magically pass through shields: you need to get the shields down anyway and to me it breaks that “immersion” But what do you guys think??

1 - Yup. This is silly. Particularly given that repair limpets work at any speed. 2 - Your weapons pass through the shields already so this doesn't bother me too much.

Have you had success with this after April? I've shot out the FSD on several ships and then blown out all their weapons - nothing. I spent half an hour with repair limpets and missiles systematically disabling modules on a T7. I knocked out everything other than the thrusters (including the refinery!) and it just kept on running. I've had one ship come to a voluntary halt since April but have never manged to repeat.

WiggyB ..I’ve been pirating in my alt novice account using a python, I found npc,s we’re jumping out before I could disable anything really, so I would follow them then often they would drop out into the star 🤬. The easiest success is with the small or medium ships ranked below dangerous otherwise I cannot tank the incoming fire out . So yes a limited success, I was lucky enough to pull a harmless T9 with over 200 diamonds, it was easy pickings, but when I tried an elite T7 I not only failed to disable anything, but took too much damage before he hi waked ..have you noticed they always hi wake and never low wake ? ..Having said all this , I’m pleased fdev have introduced or expanded this mechanic , but feel module sniping still isn’t what it should be ...I don’t have the internet connection to be a content creator, and this subject alone could be a good video for you to do Wiggy, covering the best sniping options post update and showing how it can be done ?. ..o7
@WiggyB5 жыл бұрын
You can follow them to the star. Just make sure you do not interdict until it is clear that they are not going to drop out of SC at the star. If they hit the star during an interdiction you will have lost them. Once they drop, simply target the low wake marker and drop in once in range. The ship will be waiting for you. Be careful not to hit the star's exclusion zone while travelling to the wake marker.

There is an alternative for those that can't get the hang of bump stopping. Disable shields & thrusters as per the vid, close to 5/600m, match target speed, launch 5 or 6 hatch breakers. Then break off and collect your loot. You will get 25/30 tons of LTD's per interdiction which quickly adds up as you are interdicting all the cargo ships + AspX's + Kraits + Pythons.

I find it easier to just drop into a Haz-Res, pick a target mostly at random. Just anything that is actively mining. Launch a hatch breaker and pick up whatever gets dropped. Running a manifest scan always sets the target running. And I'm lazy. Interdicting IMO is more trouble than it's worth. You can also scan the system (or the nav beacon) and look for Degraded Signal Source threat level 3. As long as the faction associated with it is not a pirate faction, you can expect to find up to 60T of assorted stolen goods you can scoop up and go sell. Most will of course be cheap stuff. But there's usually at least one ton of painite or LTD. Sometimes some silver or gold. DSS level 3 associated with a pirate faction generally has nothing but low level mats, maybe a private data port to scan, and a low level pirate in a cheap ship who seems to think he is all that.

Why have a fighter in a pirate ship? You're not trying to kill the target, only disable it. As for a class 3 versus 5 limpet controller, that's a personal preference. The time spent looting isn't really all that high versus the time spent hunting. I find 4 limpets a good balance between speed and cargo capacity.

sooo about the bump stop... you align yourself with the vector of the ship, fly past it and then turn around to get the opposite vector. couldn't i just overtake the prey-ship turn myself at it and use the marker of a module and the target assistent to align myself with the vector? like fly past it, turn around, position myself that aiming assistant and targeted module align and then let the ship bump into me. Or am I missing a crucial point?
@WiggyB5 жыл бұрын
You can, but it is very difficult. Using these techniques makes life much easier and speeds things up as you are very close to being directly in front before you start making minor adjustments. For the first bump the ship can be moving well over 200m/s and tends to simply zoom past when I try and take shortcuts. The techniques presented give me the quickest and most repeatable results. I'm sure you'll find something that fits your flying style. Have fun.

@WiggyB4 жыл бұрын
Bump stopping is challenging but fun as a result. If you find yourself damaging your targets too much, bring along a repair limpet to patch them up. As for spawns, piracy is rather different since this video. You now need to find industrial only systems without rings or asteroids. Second economy cannot be extraction or refinery either. Places like Frog work well when in boom. The Elite Pirates thread on Reddit has a full list of system. Hope that helps.

Sadly that doesn't work anymore. It used to be the main play, now the NPCs behave just like player ships. Power drops to 40%, several systems shut down (usually shields and weapons) but they keep moving and can jump out. For an alt strategy, you can blow out the FSD and all of the weapons. Sometimes they surrender at this point, but it's not reliable. Drives really are the way to go. o7

If you pirate in non-anarchy systems, you need to interdict then wait until the ship jumps. Repeat until they end up in an anarchy before pirating. If you don't the cops will disturb your looting. The wake scanner is required to tail the target between systems.

I interdicted several. The T9 in the video had I fighter bay I think. For some reason they tend not to launch them. As to killing the fighter. Use missiles. I tend to destroy the target's drives so they don't jump, roughly match my speed and direction then hit FA off and drift with the ship. I am then free to turn and pop missiles at any wing ships or fighters without the main target heading out of sensor range.

assuming this is done with mouse & keyboard as Hotas would result in too much unintended role or yaw.
@WiggyB5 жыл бұрын
I use an Xbox Elite Controller. Works fine. You should be able to set up your vector and then take your right hand off your HOTAS. Move down, and boost past in a straight line. Once you are FA off, yaw isn't a problem as it won't change your motion. All you have to do is make sure you're ship is pointed roughly at your thruster trails when you re-engage flight assist.
@kebman5 жыл бұрын
I use m&k. Yaw is usually weak in Elite, while roll is insane. That's why I've stripped it from the mouse controls, and simply relegated it to A and D, with Q and E for trucking left and right and R and F for up and down pedestal/elevator. Yes, you can probably limit the strenght/acceleration, but I found it _way_ too fiddly to use the mouse for both pitch and roll _and_ yaw at the same time. This is kinda the same setup I use for choppers in Arma 3 too. Anyway, please tell me if you know of a better way. These things aren't set in stone.

Then the victim stops above and behind you, and you can freely send a breaker limpet. Job is done. The victim won't move till the end. Cutter's shield is strong enough to withstand all Types, ASPs, Pythons, Kraits, Cobras, etc. But! This gives absolutely unstable income.
