Received mine today. I almost "screwed" up. My purpose is to drive smaller hex head screws (10 x 1). I tried magnetizing my drill hex head driver bit every which way various videos showed, including yours. The bit would just barely pick a screw up but was not close to being capable of holding it inside the driver. Any slight movement and... plop... out falls the screw. MANY redo attempts. I requested a "return" that was approved. I sat here in disbelief. How could so many applaud this device? Did not make sense. So, I tried a different driver bit. Magnetized it. Placed it near the screw and it SNATCHED it up like a preying mantis on a fly. WHAT!?! I placed the screw properly in the bit and shook it very hard. It would NOT fall out. It took enough force to pull the screw out that I KNOW this will work. Then I picked up a larger 10 x 1 1/2 and same result. No problem holding it FIRMLY, not going anywhere. I tried a 10 x 2 1/2, no problem holding it. What is up with that other bit? Has someone discovered how to combine iron and peanut butter? Thanks for the tip, AGAIN. This is perfect for my specific use.

This is something people don't talk about much. But hey I use a lot of precision screwdrivers (I like to use ratcheting screwdrivers) 1/4 inch bits and many have those tiny 4mm bits. I like to have strongly magnetized bits when working with those pesky tiny screws. I have one of these Wiha 40010 and I use it to magnetize tiny bits. I set the bits inside the 40010 and leave them for a day or so. They come out very well magnetized.

The best way to de-magnetize is to walk the screwdriver down the “steps “ feature on it. Try it out. Start up top and drag it down the steps forcefully and it will be 100% demagnetized

This does seem to help a little more, I don't get 100% but close. I think the screw I was testing has picked up a bit of magnetism.

Great video as always. I remember being a kid going to me Dad's TV repair shop and I saw one of these on his bench and it blew me away. He used to use the electrone demagnetizer to erase floppy disks. Wow I feel old now

I just found out a great way for my mini screw drivers to demagnetize. 1. Push in and lay it on middle ledge, pull out and same time come steps down towards the edge. turn sharft 90 degrees, repeat. Do 4 90 degree turns. If 1st one leave bit magnetism, repeat all 4.

Dam, I had no idea what that thing do, til I watch your video. Thought was a basic magnetic toy. Thanks a million.

Found one of these last week at O'Reilly's for 2.99. Don't remember the brand, but it's red. Thanks for your videos. :)

Thsnk you! For both the info & warnings. It came with zero instructions, so figured it must be "logical" to use. But nothing is 'obvious' to someone who never used 1 before. I got it cuz' necklaces & bracelets I make have magnetic clasps (not super strong, just enuff) & that makes bracelets EZ to put on by oneself. Problem is that over time waiting to be used, magnets got very weak! Couldn't use glass beads ~ weight of item would make clasps open & bracelet or necklace would fall off, even be lost. Saw 1 of these things online & got it to try, but NO info at all with it & not the obvious writing on it as 1 you showed. Afraid of doing it wrong, making things worse. Until now. So, "Thanks!" Now my only question is do I put both 1/2s of clasp thru together (attached), or each magnet separate? And if I send it thru more than once, will they get stronger, up to their max ability? Darn things are costly for such small magnets ~ hate to "ruin" any, tho not sure that's possible. P.S. - Had no idea why anyone would want to de-magnetize their magnets? Now I know when that other side is useful too.

Awesome review.. My step dad, left the tool in the box over nite, to demagatize or magatized the tool, if that helps...

Not only are we going to harbor freight, but we're also going to Lowe's, and home Depot, but we're also going to O'Reilly's, and AutoZone, and Napa. And then we're going to northern tool WIHA!!!!!!

Love Harbor Freight stores! It's like s a toy store to me, but always spend too much getting cool stuff that I don't know how to use correctly.

what about a tool such as magnetized tweezers...can't get mine to demagnetize with this no matter what i try. Wihas official video on youtube doen't even mention the steps and how they are used...freaking crazy.

Am I the only one wondering how could you record this video after using the 1kw EMP?
@CatusMaximus3 жыл бұрын
Because it's a tape eraser it's a big AC electromagnet emps send out a big pulse of energy through a the air like an antenna

Do you have to get the full respect of the tool before inserting it into the magnetizer or does it just feel taken advantage of???

I never was good at the "slow withdrawal technique".....sorry, schoolboy humour Thanks for the review, I use a cheap Chinese one from ebay but it works great
