Wiha Tool Haul #5: Outlet Relics - SS Torx Drivers, Dynamic Grip, and Screw Holding Screwdriver!

In this video we take a look at some gone, but not soon to be forgotten screwdrivers from Wiha! I picked these up at the same time I got one of the 3K Blowout Sets and was very pleased with the value! The SS Torx Drivers were a steal at $2.50, the Dynamic Grip driver takes the bulb design and couples it with a spinning cap like you see in Precision Drivers. And lastly, the Wiha Screwholding Screwdriver is awesome! I'm thinking there must be some premature failure point, most likely the plastic tabs at the tip, or perhaps even the springs..but I think in limited/necessary use this driver will be a gem.

Quite a collection there! FYI, Wiha is all ears! They definitely can use your feedback! They seemed very open to all ideas on their product when I visited them in the SEMA booth. Cool people! Hopefully they can relay the information to Germany!

I do what I can, lol. Just seems easier to say than middle. Thumb, Trigger, Traffic vs Thumb, Index, Middle...works for me!

I have some old screwdrivers that have the same screw holding design as the Wiha. They were made by Witte, and the handle says "W. Germany", so they are probably 30 years old. I posted pictures here: www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?s=131f90e409e9a35f90180fed537365d6&p=7039575&postcount=28438 I also have a couple of the Dynamic drivers, and really like them. The Witte I rarely use, but they occasionally are the perfect tool for the job.

That does look just like the business end of the Wiha driver! If the design was around that long, it would seem it couldn't be too bad. I figured some would have had the Dynamics...I could see people having an affinity for them. And on a side note...nice set of PB Swiss!

The only issue I can see with the screw holding driver is when you’re getting down to the head of the screw. If you tighten too fast with too much torque you could crush the plastic. Also you’d have to pull the driver off the fastener and then reset it with the holding feature retracted to driver the fastener flush. Great idea though.

Good point. I used it this weekend (thought not 100% necessary for what I was doing) and it worked flawlessly...I'm going to keep using it as I can to see if it ever starts to wear, or the ends break etc.
