Wii Koopa Cape FIXED! - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mod

I wish Koopa Cape was more like the original
Here's a list of stuff I fixed:
-Made cliffs gray.
-Trees and grass are now a little darker to fit in.
-The edges on the river are now teal and yellow, just like in the original Koopa Cape.
-Added small scratches to the halfpipe underwater.
-The pipes now have a more realistic look to them.
-The Tour ramps have a new look to them.
-Added optional glide ramps.

My biggest gripe about Koopa Cape is that they decided to use the hovering physics for the UNDERWATER SECTION, instead of... you know... USING THE WATER PHYSICS DRIVING THEY ALREADY HAVE?!

the gray rocks look better than the tan/orange ones for sure texture wise this is basically "fixed", though for me ideally the remake wouldve also had the koopa sign and the spinning things in the water, the 2nd thing may be really hard to implement though

and also have the water section be the tunnel with water in the middle instead of being fully submerged.. i don't really like the 3ds version nearly as much. but it probably would be pretty hard to mod that in to this version

If the water texture were like the base game it would fit pipe slide perfectly as base game track. But i like it really. Mostly the Tourramps, Glider ramp and the textures. Great job!

The water texture in Koopa Cape IS DEFINITELY base game. Just look at the water in every single base game track and battle stage that has water to see what I mean by that

This is a great fix! Although, I think the glider ramp is not that much needed, the ramps look a bit weird, and grass kinda needs to more texture and brighter because it looks depressing, but otherwise you’ve done good

Would love to see more of this style. I’ve seen the Booster Course Pass Deluxe mod, and, while I think it’s amazing, I hate how it tramples over the art direction in so many tracks (for example, Mushroom Gorge looks awful imo). I’ve been itching for a mod that adds some slight improvements (in the way of textures for the early waves especially) and some slightly interesting gameplay stuff (like the ramps) without messing up the other stuff. You did this exceptionally well, I’d really love to see more just like this. Also, in terms of restoration: lots of potential! -One of the things I always miss in Maple Treeway is the longer bridge without side rails in that greenish trunk part towards the end. The subtle things matter most! -fully enclosed pipe in this track! -lots of other stuff I’m tired Edit: just saw your WIP ‘better choco mountain’, I think doing earlier tracks in the style of better-looking later wave tracks like that is a winner (plus the track looks gorgeous). Great idea

With the time I'm definitely gonna fix most of the BCP. Mushroom Gorge may or may not be harder, I'm not that experienced yet. But I will look into it! As for your Koopa Cape and Treeway suggestions: the fully enclosed pipe would be too hard to implement into this mod for me I am not that good at modelling yet (which is also the reason why I haven't made any custom tracks). The bridge in Maple Treeway could probably be done! I'd just have to sacrifice the bridge from DK Mountain I'm glad you like this mod btw

Well, here's the thing: Wave 1 handles stuff completely different than wave 5. You see wave 1 barely has any textures, so naturally they smacked every model together and they all share a texture that consists of tiny pixels of color. While it _might_ be possible, I don't think I wanna put myself through that, considering that the track is way bigger too. Someone else is trying to fix a bunch of tracks already so we can just wait for that to be finished, though I don't know when that is

I don't see why people are complaining about grass textures. Why care that it looks cartoony if it still looks like grass. Not everything has to look that realistic in Mario. He's a cartoon video game character. Be fr, those people should touch grass lol

Koopa Cape has decent grass texture imo. I made them darker so they fit better color-wise. And i also added same grass to the cliff tops because.. detail

Koopa Cape has the same grass texture as Yoshi Circuit but in a different color, so Koopa Cape DEFINITELY has a really good grass texture, even though the grass isn't DP3-like or DKJ-like, and even though it's got that Royal Raceway specular map with it

The most important fix would have been to close off and drain the pipe, like it was in the original Wii version. It was so much better, like driving through an aquarium.

what was also in the past 2 remakes of Koopa Cape and not the 8DX version was a small little detail at the end of the underwater section where the sort of signs to tell the exit of the tunnel were shown w/ the Koopa Shells dashing foward wonder if that could be re-done

The 8 deluxe version is the worst koopa cape in my opinion. the underwater part is way too tight and small and the black and yellow lines in the flowing water part is just ugly.

What has exactly been FIXED? Camera angle in half pipes is still shit, same with the angle when entering the pipe. I just see some new textures, thats it.

Most of the changes are in the description. A lot of other problems are hardcoded so they are near to impossible for me to fix
