Mathematically you actually have a better chance of winning as the team in Hide and Peek if one (and only one) player "hides" behind the rocking horses, because the seeker still has to use one of their turns to pick it. So they'll only get to pick 4 out of the 6 legitimate hiding spots instead of 5 out of 6.

11:00 it is actually a 300iq move to hide behind the horses, because the seeker needs to burn one peek for that. Let's say none of you hides there. To have one out of three people hide in the spot the seeker won't look for, the probability is 1-(5/6)^3 = 42.1% chance for hiders to win. If one of you hides in the middle instead, now it's suddenly 1-(4/6)^2 = 55.6%. I just love this game because the optimal strategy is very counter-intuitive

You can't cooperate with the AI to not choose the same hiding spot as you though, so you need to account for that too. P each hider hides in different spots (case 1) = (7*6*5) / (7*7*7) = 30/49 P 2 hider hides in the same spot, 1 hider different spot (case 2) = (7*1*6) / (7*7*7) * c(3, 2) = 18/49 P 3 hider hides in the same spot (case 3) = (7*1*1) / (7*7*7) * c(3, 3) = 1/49 P seeker win in case 1 = C(5, 3) / C(7, 3) = 2/7 P seeker win in case 2 = C(5, 2) / C(7, 2) = 10/21 P seeker win in case 3 = C(5, 1) / C(7, 1) = 5/7 P total = 30/49 * 2/7 + 18/49 * 10/21 + 1/49 * 5/7 = 125/343 (36~%) // This is the probability of seeker winning normally If 1 hider hides in the horse, it effectively reduces the problem to 2 hiders, 6 hiding spots, and 4 seeker guesses instead of 3 hiders, 7 hiding spots, and 5 seeker guesses. Using same method I got a probability of 96/216 (44~%) with that strategy which is worse.

11:00 Let's get technical here. Shouta might just be smarter than everyone else. A little unintuitive fact about Hide and Peek: It is better for one person to hide behind the rocking horses than for no one to do that. You literally have a higher chance winning the minigame in that case. If no one does it, the seeker can tell, and they will have five attempts to find three people in six places. But if someone does hide there, they only have four attempts left to find two people in six places. First scenario: (5/6)^3=0.58=58% for all people to be found. Second scenario: (4/6)^2=0.44 =44% for all people to be found. This of course fails if two people hide there, because then the seeker only needs to find one person and they still have four attempts left. But if it's just one person hiding, that's your best chance for winning the game as the group.
@Paec18 сағат бұрын
It is statistically better as a hider to pick the horse hiding spot. This is because: a. The CPU *almost* never hides there. b. In the event that there are 1 person left hiding and the guesser is down to the final guess, instead of having 2 spots to pick, they will be left with 3 spots to choose from, because they had to "waste" a pick on choosing the horses. Therefore changing it from a 50% likelyhood of picking the correct one, to 33%. Now, the reason it is a "waste" is because they would never pick the horses otherwise, which immediately clears that picking location. By forcing the guesser to pick the "obvious" one, they have 1 less guess to find the other 2 hiders.

Say what you want about what happened at 11:03. However this is actually smart for the three to have one person hide at the spring riders, because it forces the one player to have to pick the spring riders. Leaving the other members on three player team have more areas to hide without being seen by the one player. In simpler terms, if one person for three hides at the spring riders. It makes it harder for the one player to win.
