I enjoy playing as the humans in Aliens vs Predator 2010, the motion tracker is a great spin on the FPS minimap and it really immerses you in the Aliens movie world. I wish they had learned more from AVP 2010, it's one of the better Alien games.

There is also the Queen Mother. Larger and more powerful than an Empress, her main quality is greatly enhanced telepathy, able to communicate with and control other Xenomorphs on a galactic scale. (Though I don't know her range, it's said she can control Xenomorphs on other planets... though why would she have to, the Xenomorph is already rpetty good at doing what it does) She can also induce nightmares in humans and drive them insane. Also I don't have much issue with multiple Xenomorphs as long as the power dynamic shifts with it. Like how in Alien 1 it was just a crew of civilians, but in Aliens it's a battle group of colonial marines... They have nukes, like how does anything compete with that. But the fact the Alien can be killed makes it scarier in my opinion, because if you know it's there, you know you have some hope of escaping or defeating it, that hope is the contrast to fear. If it was totally unbeatable then hopelessness overrules fear and it's not scary anymore, it's more like a natural disaster, like a flood.

It's because they made it a console exclusive. There's nothing wrong with RTS on console per se but to intentionally skip a PC release which is the true home of RTS caused the game to be shunned by a lot of RTS fans.

I'm not gonna lie... I get the hole "One Alien is scary enough, but make it plural and it's not scary anymore" argument. But I've never been a subscriber of that belief. Mostly because of how their body armor works, secondly because of how Aliens was written and all the films after forgot this essential fact. Now... generally a xenos exoskeleton is fairly tough. Able to keep the creature protected from all kinds of environments. Including most small arms. Now shooting one of the little buggers is not exactly a sure fire way to kill the thing. It usually takes either larger calibers and or specialized armor piercing. As for how they were written... it's no secret that the film itself was based off the Vietnam War. A Colonial Marines uniform and kit could tell you much. With the old adage that while the humans are packing more advanced tech and ranged option... most of it is useless against the hive. For example inferred, sounds useful on paper but doesn't work on cold blooded creatures. Motion tracker, can be used to tell where your comrad is or what's moving about nearby. But can't tell you the elevation nor specific size of it. Body armor, keep you safe from other guy's with guns. But against the bugs? Good luck asshole. If it isn't torn apart by claws, pierced by bladed tail, or getting an free lobotomy via inermouth. The acidic blood from a close range gunfight will probably melt it along with your internal organs. Honestly you'll be lucky if you survive one. Make it plural? You've got a snowballs chance in hell.

They are still scary, but remember xenomorph have no concept of the individual, only the hive. As such they will sacrifice untold numbers of their own so long as the hive continues. But that one alien was the whole of the hive, and as such had a higher self-preservation level due to how if it dies the hive dies. Also the Colonial Marines rounds are explosive as well as armor piercing so like a bolt shell they would detonate inside the target causing massive internal damage.

Surprisingly enough... AvP 2 for the PC, which will likely never see a re-release or remaster, due to the company that made the game being owned by Warner Bros, and the owners of Aliens being Disney, but when playing AvP2, playing the humans was as interesting as playing the aliens. I doubt I'll ever be able to verify this in modern day... but my nostalgia declares that AvP2 made each of the three factions fun to play.

Me and a friend played the shooter Alien v Predator 2 at a cybercafe. We loved to play the predator. One time, almost everyone was playing ffa, and the two of us were dominating. I read somewhere that initially HR Giger really didn’t like the idea of having a Xenomorph Queen because it takes away from the idea that individual Xenomorphs don’t need males or females in the standard sense of reproduction. Thus making Xenomorphs a perfect creature through their ability to reproduce asexually by eggmorping their insnared prey. Also, I always thought the Pretorians were basically Xenomorph drones that have fully matured into adulthood.
