Wibler's BBQ!!!! When I was stationed and the Shady J Wilbers was the best thing ever. I have been craving it since the mid 80's when I last had it THANKS

Drove an hour and a half to try out Wilber's Q. Got out of the truck only to be greeted by by the heavenly smell of oak (my favorite smoking wood) and pork smoke. (And gnats). The restaurant started filling up with people right after we sat down. I ordered the fried chicken and Q. Both were totally delicious! Took home some sauce that I plan to add to the butt I have been smoking since last night. Wilbers does it right. If you don't smell wood or see a large woodpile outside a BBQ joint, be suspicious. Be very suspicious.

It's sad that Wilber's BBQ is gone now. I enjoyed their food from 1971 through 1974 while living on Seymour Johnson AFB. .... Out of curiosity I Googled Wilber's after I posted my comment. It is supposedly reopened under new ownership. Maybe a road trip is in order?

Ok that last comment was messed up. I don't know what you are talking about but I have lived in North Carolina all my life in that area but I have traveled all over North Carolina and it is a very good state and a very good environment to live in! We have a lot of good people in North Carolina! I happen to know and be VERY good friends with Mr.Wilber and also the company that supports him Nahunta Pork Center. They are all very nice people and the owner of NPC just passed away so it was a very bi

Too bad they couldn’t manage their money like they managed BBQ. I feel bad for the guy but he had to know if you don’t pay your state taxes you’ll loose everything you’ve worked a lifetime for. I found this out the hard way!!

I was stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro from ‘75-77. Go SAC!!! My first wife and I ate at Wilburs all the time. Used to love to eat breakfast there on the weekends and I have yet to find anywhere else that serves a BBQ breakfast. They used to have a plate with scrambled eggs,white gravy,biscuits and BBQ tenderloin. It was so good.

I've eaten here at 7 years old and 20 years later I was thrown back in time. A must if you are visiting Eastern NC

When I was stationed in Seymour Johnson AFB in the early 70's I ate at Wilbur's probably 3-4 days a week - at least1. Between those wonderful hush puppies (I would get a back for $1 to take with me for my midnight shift at work), to that amazing chopped pork to that pitcher of SWEET tea on the table... over the years I have gotten off of I-95 and taken 13 over to Goldsboro JUST to eat at Wilbur's and treat my family to the best there is. And when I have been doing consulting in my adult career years I would bring friends and colleagues to experience it, too. I'm sorry Wilbur is gone, but hope the new Wilbur's will do well.

Their BBQ has a very distinctive taste but the reason to go there is for the hushpuppies :)

I grew up southeast of Raleigh. Just went back for vacation to Carolina Beach, couldn't find any authentic real BBQ and you can see at 25 seconds in the video the classic NC fine chopped coleslaw. Couldn't even find any of that. It was that big chopped cabbage slaw with no taste. Oh well, I guess Carolina Beach is full of carpetbaggers. Heehee

Didn’t understand a damn word the pit master, Mr Parks, said. Too bad these guys went out of business for not paying taxes. One way or another “the man” will get his money.
@Jwirlwind10 жыл бұрын
If you want the best bar b q, you need to take a trip to central South Carolina and get the real thing. We also have what is called beef hash. If you have never had beef hash, you would not understand.

Eastern NC style and SC style is VERY different. Someone like myself, originally from Goldsboro, wouldn't be able to handle your style lol.

In South Carolina, you can get either ketchup or mustard based sauce on your bar b q. The North Carolina vinegar based crap is for those that don't know how to make sauce. What a joke.

You, my friend, are insane.
@GaryClutchClark8 жыл бұрын
Someone's bitter that no one outside of SC gives a "crap" about your barbecue. It's also not difficult to make ketchup or mustard sauce, you fucking idiot.
@imagine10185 жыл бұрын
I've tried both SC bbqs...the pits! I wouldn't call either barbeque.

Been to wilburs and it was bad. Everyone one i know agrees. The pork has too much fat and grizzle, the waitress kept disappearing, and the price was too high.
