When an album stays on the charts for 300 weeks, that's six (yes 6) years and it's her debut album you know this is a special thing. Prior to this album she wrote songs for other artists because she was not confident in her voice, but other artists encouraged her to do her own stuff. The first album I ever bought.

Her entire TAPESTRY album is nothing but hits. If you want live, she did a show with her good friend James Taylor who she let record YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND and she held back on releasing herself

That’s a concert grand piano. Carol gave You’ve Got A Friend to James Taylor to sing when she heard his Fire and Rain. She’d been writing hits for R&B groups as well. Kennedy Center did a Carol King tribute you MUST react to! Carol didn’t know Aretha was coming to sing Carol’s song “ Natural Woman” - which she made her own! Watch her delight and shock when Aretha walks out and gives one of the greatest performances of her life! President Obama was in tears.

Another incredible song of hers is "Far Away" and "I Feel The Earth Move" from her album called Tapestry is one of the best selling albums EVER. You must check it out please. Every song was a hit from it. She wrote every song herself. She's written many other songs for other people like "Natural Woman" for Areatha Franklin, "Crying In The Rain" for the Everly Brothers, ""Locomotion" for Little Eva, and "Up On The Roof" for the drifters. She started as a high school student.

NOTE TO THE MRS - Listen to Carole's album Tapestry . . . all of it. Released in 1971, it's one of the greatest LPs ever!!!! It's Too Late was one of the monster-hit singles from Tapestry, & you'll love the studio version you'll hear -- on EVERY song!! My favorite on the album is I Feel The Earth Move, but they really are ALL GREAT!!!!! PS. Long before Carole decided to sing her songs herself, she was one of the most successful songwriters the world ever knew. Regarded as one of the most significant and influential musicians of all time, Carole is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, having written or co-written 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. She also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK, making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1962 and 2005. Among the multitude of songs Carole King wrote or cowrote for a myriad of other artists, here's a few of the hit records I'm sure you would also enjoy: * Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin - 1967 * Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles - 1960 Chains by The Beatles - 1963 - originally released by The Cookies 1962 Go Away, Little Girl by Steve Lawrence - 1962 - also Donny Osmond 1971 Locomotion by Little Eva - 1962 - also Grand Funk Railroad 1974 & Kylie Minogue 1988 I'm Into Something Good by Herman's Hermits - 1964 The 2 with the * are songs Carole performs herself on the Tapestry album, and she does a FABULOUS job, but both were written for the artists that made them hits!!

Carol King was a major song writer in the 1960's and became a major singer/performer in the early 70's. As a songwriter she wrote or co-wrote such great hits as "The Loco Motion, "Up on the Roof", "Take Good Care of My Baby", "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", and "I'm into Something Good". Other great songs from her as a singer include "So Far Away", "Sweet Seasons", "Nightengale", and "Jazzman." She also had some success as an actress.

Hi guys love your reaction to Carole King one of the few singer songwriter who's multi talented. Chod a little constructive criticism here, I always enjoy your take and insights on the music you react to. You're very passionate and it shows, I just hope you can give Dee a bit more talk time. I feel she a lot of interesting things to say especially when she's in the moment. There are times when her words get lost in the conversation. She's beginning to grow into appreciating the classics and grow as a reactor. Obviously she's very supportive of you and wants nothing but for you to succeed. But let her grow as well. Your success is her success and vice versa. Also I hope you guys get to dive more in to the 80's not knocking the 70's but as an 80s kid I'm kinda biased to the songs of the 80s. Oh btw I hope you guys can react to New Kids On the Block's new song about the 80s. It's a good song that has Salt n Peppa, En Vouge and Rick Astley. Bring Back The Time is the title.

Chod and Dee, you definitely have to react to more Carol King! She's has a deep catalog of music. This song is from her album Tapestry which you must explore. I bought it back in 71 when it first came out. And still enjoy it. So many beautiful songs like You've Got a Friend, So Far Away, I Feel the Earth Move, and Natural Woman. Tapestry held the record for most weeks at No.1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. And the song Natural Woman was one of Aretha Franklin's greatest hits written by Carol King. She was recognized at the Kennedy Center Honors program in 2015 and Aretha Franklin sang Natural Woman in her honor. It was an amazing performance and there's video. Looking forward to more of Carol King!!

King's major success began in the 1960s when she & her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits for other artists. React to more of the BBC Concert and get her a copy of Tapestry (1971) and throw in Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark (1974) ASAP (you won't regret it unless she can't stop playing it). Bad news, Carole did not write the song, Toni Stern did, however Carole wrote the music. #1 in 1970 from an all-time best-selling and award-winning album. Like another KZbinr says, Next Level, Game Over!

Just a little background about Carole, in the 60’s, her and her then husband Grrry Goffin were one of the most successful song writing teams for other artists with 10 top 10 songs and 4 number 1. Gerry wrote the lyrics and Carole the music and arrangements. After they divorced Carole decided to go solo and had more hits and one of the greatest albums ever “Tapestry”. She is him the Rock and Roll Hall of Fane as a songwriter with her ex, then again a few years later as a singer. She wrote and sang “You make me feel like a natural Woman”, of course Aretha Franklin’s version is historic! I could recommend 10-15 songs easy, but I think you would love “Jazzman”. It’s a great song and a topic I am sure you would relate to!
