@@asfdadfgdasfh4444, I took a listen to the fugees version, although it was good and I'm not knocking it ,I think it's a generational thing. Roberta was the first for us" older folks ', her voice has more emotion in it. My opinion, thanks

"Killing Me Softly With His Song" was written by the songwriting team of Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and first recorded by Lori Lieberman in 1972. According to Lieberman, the song was inspired by Don McLean, a singer/songwriter famous for his hit "American Pie." After being mesmerized by one of his concerts at the Troubadour theater in Los Angeles - and in particular McLean's song "Empty Chairs" - Lieberman wrote a poem on a napkin describing how she felt about McLean's performance and brought it to Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox, who were writing songs for her new album. Peace out.

@@festival5920 Will probably never happen. Fox and Gimbel have tried to downplay Lieberman's contribution after their relation went sour over the years. They even tried to get McLean to retract a statement on his website about being the inspiration for the song.

Growing up in the late 60s and early 70s, Roberta Flack was and still is my favorite female voice! BTW, I'm 63 now and listened to many different genre's of music with a dad who played the big bass playing swing music, my mom listened to Ella's Fitzgerald and Dinha Washington and four sisters and one brother who all listened to Mo- town, hard rock, disco and top 40s ! Great time to be alive for music!
