One of their most covered songs. This is their make-up-after-the-break-up song. When Robin and Barry re-united in 1971, they wrote this to express their feelings about their Bee-Gees break-up. Of course, it can be a romantic make-up song as well, or as a grieving time after the passing of a loved one contemplation, because, after all, "no one ever tells you about the sorrow."

The Bee Gees were a progressive rock band before they were known as a Disco Trio ..They had a versatile style like many had at the times of the 60s and 70s . One of my favs is South Dakota Morning ,it is basically an acoustic country folk song .. To Love Somebody ,it is a rock ballad ..They did it all

Great reaction, CHOD. There isn't an era of the Bee Gees I can't love. This song was about getting back together after they had a brief breakup. You might want to also check out "Lonely Days" (studio version). It was written right after "Mend" and appeared on the same album. This song was their first U.S. number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was number 5 overall for 1971. There's so much more to check out.

The main reason I watch reaction videos is because watching someone experience for the first time what I experienced many years ago listing to this stuff. It makes it feel (in a way) like it's new to me again. Especially if I haven't heard the song in a long while. It's a new way for me to enjoy what is old. I'm just getting older. The music on the other hand is timeless. Please keep passing it along. There is peace in music.

A lot of credit for the sound of the pre-disco Bee Gees has to go to Bill Shepherd, who produced all the strings and orchestral arrangements. His arrangements turned all these songs into beautiful works of art.

How Do You Mend a Broken Heart was recorded BEFORE the disco period. BeeGees are an R and B band at their core as this song demonstrates. They were just good at writing disco hits for the brief period that disco was popular.

Also, this one has a beautiful orchestral intro and a great message, “Be Who you are”, it is from the Album Living Eyes…has other great songs as well.😎

They wrote this after the group got back together. Robin left the group for about 18 months---Barry said it was a combination of things ( immaturity , 1st fame, prosperity, women, jeleousy, testosterone). It was a family squabble that played out in the media. They all missed singing together, it wasn't any fun on their own. Barry had this song mostly written and asked Robin if he wanted to help with it and that was that. He also gave Robin the 1st verse in the song to sing. Everybody and his brother have covered this song too. Great reaction. 😎

I hope you will dig a little further back into their pre-disco catalog! I strongly suggest these 4 songs, for a start: To Love Somebody (1967) I've Gotta Get a Message to You (1968) New York Mining Disaster 1941 (1967) Lonely Days (1970) Keep up the great work!

"Morning of my Life"? "Words" "Run to Me"? My step dad had a wonderful singing voice and singing "Words" and "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (CSN) to her in a pub convinced her to marry him! 48 years later and still going strong. "JBE" is really their song though.
