This is brit-pop, was very big in the 90s, I loved it. Some songs are just fun, one don't always have to have his mind totally blown. Supergrass was a much appreciated band, had some great songs. Always loved "Richard III".

I'm not saying it's an all-time classic but it's a fun catchy song. Compared to most of what passes for popular music today it's pretty good.

The video was shot in Portmeirion in North Wales. A beautiful Italian style village created by Clough Williams Ellis. I've been there a couple of times and it's really beautiful.

Yeah, never noticed that at the time the single was released. Portmeirion was the location for 'The village' in the often surreal 1960's cult TV series 'The prisoner', and fans of the show still have conventions there. The big balloon the band threw from the balcony was a nod to the series, as a weird balloon was featured in many episodes that was nicknamed 'Rover' and hunted down anyone who tried to escape 'The village'.

@@DrumAndDrumber Quick story.....I'm70+ now and when I was a boy my granddaddy would occasionally take me along where he would play in piano bars, sometimes with baby grands. At home he had 2 uprights. One he converted to honky-tonk and would entertain with for friends. So I understand why most people wouldn't know this tidbit. That's why as generations pass, it doesn't surprise me that young Chod has nary a clue of this piano. You got my interest with recording studio. I'm sure you have much to offer. Let us know if you have an outlet where we can hear some of your work. A great day to you as well!

It’s meant to be a tongue-in-cheek song. The rest of this album (and the albums that followed) are very diverse and nothing else they did really sounds like this.

I like this song now, and I absolutely love Supergrass, but I hated it when I first heard it. I'm glad I got into Supergrass though. They were a very special part of 90s music in the U.K. Try listening to Sun Hits the Sky. It's amazing.

I agree with it being repetitive, but not that they were imitating the Beatles. I believe they were imitating singers and bands in the early 70's. Bubble gum music. Fun, happy, catchy tunes that young kids could move to. My sister was watching this with me and she thought of the Sid and Marty Krofft shows where there was a lot of catchy tunes. Some other songs this songs this song reminded me of are: Easy Come easy go- Bobby Sherman, Speak to the Sky- Rick Springfield and Saturday Night -Bay City Rollers. I'm thinking your wife grew up with them. If she is like me, there is always a place in our heart this kind of music. Especially if there is a British accent. And I did like the song. It was familiar. I don't know if I have heard this in a movie or a commercial or the sound just takes me back to my childhood.

It's power pop, a genre whose mould is, of course The Beatles. This song is from first Supergrass album, which is an excellent Power pop album. Many people don't like this genre, it's quite derivative and cliche, but who isn't? Anyway, Supergrass second album is more personal and more original... This particular song is purposedly repetitive, the first verses are the same except for a key change... but the song has more in it, the excellent bridge for instance, the catchy guitar solo, and some interesting details, the tone of that infectous piano, the vocal harmonies. I'm thinking this is quite an underrated song. It's not the most original song ever, but it's solid, well crafted and produced

Not a huge fan of this band but I am a moderate one I guess. And I think this song is definitely fun and love the video. But I would prefer honesty when a reactor doesn't like something very much. So no issues here with your lack of appreciation. Before you totally write them off give a listen to a different song of theirs, like maybe 'Moving' or 'Mary', for example. A hardcore fan might have better suggestions..

This band is so much more than this song. You've been listening to a lot of classic bands and no way am I saying suoergrass classic but they have a classic nature, only three people in the band, drummer bassist and singer/guitarist, simple yet effective. Check out 'Going Out' or 'In it for the money', also check out Ocean Colour Scene - Hundred Mile High City, another British band from the time with an epic guitarist.

Supergrass were/are a great band. This song is a catchy song but does not do them justice. Try some of their other songs: Sofa [Of My Lethargy], In It For The Money, Late In The Day, Run, Richard III, Moving, G-Song, Eon, It's Not Me .... the list is endless.

Brother The Beatles are pop! The best pop ever. This one song doesn’t define them. Just like most performers. Ok they’re no Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, but let’s be honest, MTV changed the game after we lost Nirvana n got Nsync n Britney. Thomas Sowell said it best when he said that culture is a big part to blame for where we all are now.. It shouldn’t be a claim to fame if it leads to mumble n what is now.

So you don't like catchy pop music...got it. This is from their first album. They evolved quickly and made some great albums which I know you wouldn't like. You should not under any circumstances react to any of their songs like 'Moving' or 'Late In The Day' because I'm positive it would cause you further emotional duress.

This just stinks man, I mean... listen to the Rutles, these punks are ripping off them the Beatles, the Bay City Rollers and half a dozen other pop bands. This one is a FAIL.
