Far, far away
From those city lights
That might be shining on you tonight
Far, far away from you
On the dark side of the moon
I long to hold you in my arms and sway
Kiss and ride on the CTA
I need to see you tonight
And those bright lights
Oh, I know it's right
Deep in my heart
I'll know it's right
By the bed, by the light that you read by
By the time that I get home to say good night
I need to see you again
On the dark side my friend
On the dark side

Wilco was my favorite band in the 90's. Now it's my 21 year old musician son's favorite band. Great music is great music - regardless of eras.

Just to keep the timeline active...not sure what year it is but I'd love to see wilco play a show that's only the first two albums. Doesn't seem likely as it's almost a different band entirely both in members and style/approach. But taken together AM and Being There are bedrock for non-grunge rock and roll in the 90's. I don't think they invented a genre but I do think they laid a parallel path to Nirvanan/Pearl Jam that, arguably, became more important to music than the fuzzed out gut-punches from Seattle. I haven't listened to bleach or never mind in 15 years. I'll never stop listening to the wilco albums.

Very organic albums. Being There is of course fantastic but AM in my opinion is grossly underrated!

Maybe if I had heard this song before, the distance wouldn't just be measured in miles, not tears and unspoken words. At its time I refused distance with such a strenght and hate, I destroyed something valuable enough to forget about all the things between us. I lost a friend, beyond everything, one of those thing you just don't get back

Yeah man, i totally agree. I saw the AM tour as well. Hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago! That album ( and all of their albums, really ) have aged very well.

Have you been to a show with the "new" lineup? Glenn and Nels are virtuosos, and Pat and Mikael give the band more power and versatility. Nothing against Coomer, but he's not in the same league as Glenn Kotche. Wilco has never been better than they are right now.

He clearly says "on the dark side of the ROOM" at the end, and on the album. There is no R sound in moon, but it's always there.

What is the CTA?
@blueline2256
@blueline2256 4 жыл бұрын
It is the transit system for the city of chicago. It includes 8 different rapid train lines that run every 3 to 10 minutes. Two of the train lines run 24/7/365. It also has approximately 120 bus routes. It is the second or third largest transit system in the United States. About 1.6 million people use the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) everyday.

So Wilco, unable to come up with your own musical concept so you have to copy bands of yore, namely a band called "The Band"?
