I read that someone compared them to "The Band"...I agree with the statement..the amount of talent within everyone brings out the best when they are together...all top notch musicians but combined they somehow transcend their own abilities and make great music..strong upfront musicianship....

I recorded the video off the livestream, & this set turned me into a Wilco fan. I've since downloaded most of their albums, but think this set from the live show is a better song collection than any one album contains, although my fave album is the one they do the most songs from here, "The Whole Love". Wilco & Mazzy Star were my two fave bands from Primavera.

@@guitarstuffs1236 by far imho, their live performances are above and beyond the studio sets as is in most cases, unless your just a studio band like steely Dan for example, and even sdans live shows are better honestly so..Tweedys solo shows are outstanding also as they almost double as comedy shows..just so happens his natural frequency is naturally just funny, self deprecating and unique perspectives

You should check out some bootlegs from around the time YHF came out. The arrangement of Spiders here is the way it originally started out, before the "kraut-rock" version on the album. It's great to be able to hear how Wilco's songs have progressed over the years. Spiders has come full circle!

at least you took the time to inquire. i wasnt looking to cause trouble. i never heard the band before and i saw them in the suggestion bar so i thought i'd check it out. the thing is, it was in the suggestion bar of stuff i do like, which is completely unrelated, so i was taken aback. and truthfully any kind of music is something inspiring when its well done. i dont know anybody who only listens to one kind of music. but wth these guys the writing is not there, let alone the performance.

Wilco hasn't done a great album since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, hasn't done a decent album since A Ghost Is Born, and generally hasn't been a great band since Jay Bennett left that band after YHF. Tweedy wrote/writes the songs, but Bennett was his sounding-off board and overall studio wiz. Post-Bennett Wilco is uninspired tripe. Sorry to sound hateful, but there really is a demarcation point of overall quality with this once-great band, and it's pretty easy to spot if one has followed this band from the very beginning.

^^^ well there's one man's opinion.
@arturoandrade90899 жыл бұрын
Oh, as musicians they're top-notch. But as with a lot of aging bands, inspiration and creativity in songwriting usually gives way to settling down into craft and show-offy musicianship. The inventiveness that this band was known for disappeared once Jay Bennett left the band.
