I really love your pacing and tone. So much better than the ADD feeling I get with the really big viral guys. You are a doing an awesome job!
@SuperDerek10 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot man, I know what you mean about that ADD pacing in other reviews. A lot of people really like that, but I honestly don't think I could keep up with it, so I just try to make the kind of reviews that I would watch. I'm glad to hear that other people out there can appreciate this style too. :)

I’m so tired of the jump cuts and way too high energy bs on KZbin. I like this guy for the same reason. I imagine most classical style rpg fans are patient people with longer attention spans since those games require that to some degree so it makes sense.

This is a fantastic game. I remember playing it when it was first released on the PSOne all those years ago. That opening song is still so iconic and is one of my absolute favorite tracks from any video game. I'm glad to see you talking about this game Derek, it gave me a nice warm nostalgic feeling.

Wild Arms is a franchise I sorely miss nowadays, while the series really started to drop in quality (or perhaps simply ran out of interesting ideas depending how you look at it) after Wild Arms 3 I still have a a lot of love for the series and I would love to see a new game to be released. Gotta say Wild Arms 3 is my favorite game of the series, it embraces all the sci-fi elements that made Wild Arms 1 so unique at the time and embraced it's Wild West themes more than ever before. Characters and story are also some of the best of the franchise in my opinion.

Funny coincidence, I played through Wild Arms for the first time earlier this year too. I'm a huge fan of westerns, and was a tiny bit disappointed with the lack of that traditional wild west feel. It was an enjoyable RPG otherwise tho, I enjoyed the story and characters. Combat was a bit plain. Oh man the music tho, every single time I booted the game I HAD to whistle in tune with the opening movie's song, so damn good.
@SuperDerek10 жыл бұрын
Definitely some amazing music. I haven't played any of the other Wild Arms games, but when I do I'm hoping that they beefed up their traditional western feel. I'm not sure how they could go about it, but I'd love to see them try. :)

Man I can't praise enough the decision to stick to high-quality 2d visuals much to Sony's dismay while 3d was still in its infancy, the battle monsters are cool in that weird funky FF7 kinda way but the game's gorgeous as it is. Late-end 16-bit and early 32-bit 2d is to this day some of the most gorgeous video game art there is, I'm so glad modern indie games often look to it and try to emulate it or do a similarly pretty hand drawn type of thing. It's definitely one of the reasons this game ever got on my radar as a kid, still loving the SNES era of RPGs and missing them badly as gaming kept marching forward in not-always-personally-appealing ways, and this helped me bridge the gap between the likes of Chrono Trigger and Lufia 2 into the FF7s and Dragoons and Legaias of the PS1.

Wild Arms is a very special RPG, I don't know if it's one of the best though. Good story, great characters development, it has one of the best soundtrack from psx era. In my opinion this game is a tribute to the most haunting Snes rpg games such as Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Final Fantasy, Lufia...it is a mix of this games. Wild Arms is a long psx game with good heartwarming story, that leave you whistling in mind something like "there is always a new beginning", dreams and friendship is all that you need adventuring in life. 8.5/10. Beautiful game!

Dude, I really enjoy your reviews keep it up! Can you review Xenogears, Tales of Destiny (any or all of them!), and Silent Hill (any or all of them!). Thanks in advance!
@SuperDerek10 жыл бұрын
You bet! The Xeno "series" is one that I've been wanting to try out. I've got 3 of the 5, but still need Xenogears and Xenosaga 3. Once I get Xenogears though, it'll be near the top of my list of games to play through. Might take a while to play a Tales game though, because it just dawned on me that I don't own a single one... Well, besides Xillia.
@StrangerX910 жыл бұрын
Xeno saga isn't worth reviewing with out Xenogears. Xenogears is so epic it was going to be Final Fantasy 7, until they thought the religious referenses would be too much for players. It's very deep story wise. If you wanna get into the tales games, try Tales of Phantasia on the GBA, then Destiny on the PS1. I have Xenogears and both tales games I mentioned. I would let you borrow them, but I can't since you know it's the internet lol. (COUGH COUGH EMULATOR COUGH HACK!)
@SuperDerek10 жыл бұрын
StrangerX9 Yeah, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I just don't feel right adding a game to The Game Collection when I don't actually own a copy, if you know what I mean. But I'll get there, I've got plenty of games to review in the meantime, plenty of time to save up. :)
