This is my captive-bred wild BETTA IMBELLIS pair from Franks Bettas. They live in a 4-gallon Aquatop rimless tank that is blackwater. They are quickly becoming one of my favorite betta fish!

I really would love some of your betta girls! I started with a very small 5 gallon tank with four small females. They have been living with no problems for 6 months now. But I really want to take care of them the best I can. I found a 15 gallon extra tall tank yesterday and I'm going to try my hand at aquascaping and hopefully be able to introduce a few more girls. I Enjoy your love and passion for your babies. You have inspired me and taught me important things on their care and what to look for to prevent and even treat problems that might arise. @@CreativePetKeeping the ones I have now are domestics. I'm interested in any and all of them. Is it better to separate the wild from domestic or can they live together? Might sound like dumb questions, but I'm learning and I want to do it right. I guess my true dream would be to have an assortment of all the different types if that's doable. Thank you very much! I forgot to add.. I'm not looking to breed.. I'm just looking to provide the best home I can for a tank that I can enjoy and share with my family.

i have a male betta about 16 mounths of age, ive had him sense he was a baby,his name is squishy. i want to bread him before his fins get to long. im getting a baby girl betta soon do you think by the time she is ready to bread he will still be abel too?

I have a group of betta imbellis. I thought I had one male and four females, but I haven't had a bubble nest. They are in a 20 long black water tank. I wonder if moving the one that I believe is male in a smaller black water tank and adding just one of the females would work. What do you think? Now that the weather is warming up, I think I will try ordering from Franks Betta. Do you have a good transhipper that you are willing to share with me? Frank sent me a long list of people. I'm still fairly new to them but assume the males would fight. A harem of a male and a few females might work..but too many fish might also stress him out if he is guarding the nest

My 8 months old Betta fish always stay at bottom of the bowl and after taking breath he swim fastly like fighter jet and again stay at bottom , I found some white spots on its head

Yes, they can. The tank needs to be big enough to have hiding places and to accomodate the occupants. Plants are preferable. Choose peaceful tankmates to go with the betta imbellis.

Wild bettas are very shy, so small densely planted tanks work well. Bigger tanks can work if the water level is not too high. So very short but long tanks. Imo the 12 gallon long booksheft tank is perfect because its a big territory but water level is low.

Can you breed this between the different betta species? As in Betta Imbellis with the common Betta Splenden? Betta smaragdina as well? Is that what is taking place with the new Alien bettas? Very hard to find this information online.

Turn down the water to something like 3 or 4 inches. Shrimps and Cory need to be removed, otherwise they will eat the egs that will fall in the substrate. Good luck.

They have been spawning and have fry in that setup already, baby pleco and shrimp are not affecting them. No Cory's in the tank.

I think this is a hybrid betta imbellis, not exactly pure wild betta imbellis. wild betta imbellis should not have this long anal fins and ventral fins. this is a trace from the betta mahachaiensis roots. also the metallic teal on his cheeks are too wide spread, it should only be highlighted on the operculum but not for the most part of his face. nevertheless to say, your bettas are beautiful!

Wild ones are the way to go. The fancy varieties are inbred and have such short sickly lives. It's should be banned.
