When I was a teenager I used to go hiking in the Peak District (UK) which used to have some amazing views. But nothing as beautiful as the views that you have in NZ. Thank you for letting me experience your fantastic journeys.
Thank you for taking us with you to the awesome scenery!!

I’m not sure why KZbin put your Dragons Teeth video on my home page but I’m glad that it/they did because your videos bring back a lot of memories. Mainly, on my two trips to NZ I hiked the better known tracks but, on my second visit, I bought a book called 101 Tramps and that is how I got out to Lonely Lake and the Drunken Sailors col. It looks, from Google as if Speargrass Hut has been done up since my visit. I’d been at Bushline Hut for the ridge but the heavens opened big time, washing away the road at Fox River, I later discovered, so I hiked down to Speargrass. That meant I’d still been in position for the ridge if the weather improved. It was warm and wet in the forest so I just wore running gear for the trip to Speargrass and arrived soaked. To dry out, I lit the pot bellied stove - and had to go back out into the rain because the heat in the hut became unbearable. Also amusing was seeing a sign in Hopeless Hut saying don’t stay there because it’s at the foot of an avalanche chute! Thank you for your videos. You deserve a lot more subscribers.

Hey thanks for the kind words. The drunken sailor and lonely lake is a very cool spot. Yeah speargrass is a fancy new hut now. We are new to making videos so have lots to learn but hope to keep improving our content.

Re your love affair with Owen, have you asked about the Lake Bulmer Track ?
@AbelandVictoria Жыл бұрын
Lol not yet. Heading out into Cobb area for 2 night camp next. My brother coming for a trip sometime late April we intend to go over Luna tops Biggs tops maybe back over batton saddle but not fully decided. Have you done this ?
@edgeplay4205 Жыл бұрын
Have done Biggs and Luna. They are more an alternative to the Wangapeka Saddle as part of a thru trip, not so much as a destination in itself. You can do the short loop but Stone Creek is pretty boring. Looping thru Baton Saddle brings in the upper Karamea and the Baton track has interesting landscape to explore half way up the North side. 6 day trip. But you will likely want to look up the side streams - Venus etc. so add another day or 2.
