Great videos Dan. Already watched them all when you first loaded them up, just watching them again :) I visit Scotland and/or the Scottish Islands every year, love it up there. It`s been great following your adventure as a novice camper to someone who eventually found their feet in the great outdoors. Good on you for sticking at it. Just seen your latest where you are planning to walk Coast to Coast. Can`t wait. Best of luck mate!

You should look for dead branches IN trees. They're usually really dry, even when it rained a bit they will burn easily when you stack them with the ferns.

Another great video Dan, few things id put in your survival kit that I have in mine is a bit of fishing wire with a barbed hook, tampon and mini lighter (for fire) a really small torch possibly one of those thumb one's used on sets of house/car keys and a small glow stick with string attached incase you get lost and they send heli patrols out :) hope this helps in some kind of way. Better to be prepared then sorry and they've all come handy in my Army career so far

Great videos, Dan! Your Kelly Kettle setup is more for boiling water than cooking food. Next time you go out you might consider taking dehydrated/freeze dried meals instead of the Army meals. They are much lighter, taste a lot better, and are much easier on your digestive tract.

Hello Dan, Beleive it or not, you can super glue small cuts and scrapes instead of using "plasters"!
@wimvaneldik8004
@wimvaneldik8004 10 жыл бұрын
You can use pine residu, or simpler said the stuff that comes out when you cit it, there should also be black things where branches broke of, you can brake those off and they should burn fairly well(some kind of wax is it, so wont burn when its solid, and needs a wicker(thing you have in a candle, i though thats a wicker but dont take me on that) of some sort. Also if you have a pine tree you have horizontall branches and diagonal (pointing upwards) branches, were those connect to the tree there should be fatwood, wich is a bit red from color, when you feather that(or just take small strips of it, feathering is taking small strips but just leaving them on the stick, so you got a stick with a lot of small strips hanging off it) it should burn fairly well. Nice series!

Ok I know you appeared very I'll prepared but In this video I do see you have taken on some useful info. I think you should take more plasters in your first aid kit though or maybe one of those strips you cut to size rather than mixed sizes. To be honest watching this and seeing problems you encounter serves a purpose to others. They can see where you went wrong and adjust their kit to suit. Looking forward to pt3 ill be watching it tomorrow. Atb Steve

You guys seen the weather for next week? Dan is going to face some real challenges now woohooo! (thats what he went up there for after all!) Snow, minus 7 deg Centigrade....much more what it SHOULD be like this time of year...Dan has been lucky so far with quite unseasonably warm and calm weather.... I cant wait to see the video about how he dealt with the 'jetstream weather bomb;' that struck Scotland over the last few days... Is it going to be an epic struggle for survival with plenty of comedic quips...or does he do the sensible thing and take shelter in a nice cosy hotel...? What do we reckon?

If you were to vacation anywhere in the states dan I would recommend Yellowstone park. You can fly right in to Yellowstone and rent a car or fly into Jackson hole rent a car and drive into Yellowstone. I like a place by west Yellowstone go threw west gate and there is a awesome town right outside gate and has good cheap hotels. Northern Yellowstone you go by mammoth hot springs to boiling riving and they have two parking lots either side of the road and you can park and swim in the boiling river. I found a platinum diamond pendant on an 18k home chain in that river so if you can get a hand held metal detector in its the glory hole! I just used my eyes, but if I go again I'm trying to bring one of those waterproof handhelds in. Maybe a scuba mask. Imagine the rings dan!
