You must be the calmest and most tranquil person in the world. Me, I would have set fire to the tarp, the field, and possibly myself to get these wee beasties off of me. Great video.

Another cracking video, can't believe the quality of that microphone for the price that you paid for it. If I'm not mistaken that location is in my local hills, I stay at the other side just beside the bridge. I can walk out my front door and be on the path in 5 minutes... Love it. Atb

Hi there I have been considering buying the rab siltarp 2. Could you fit 2 average sized people in that shelter that you have made there?
@AlanMETALMAN7 жыл бұрын
Think I would prefer one side completely pegged down but definitely going to try in next year (#fairweathercamper). Great view mind and what a fantastic way to wake up in the morning and see that. Got to say I got a shock when I saw you without your beard, did not recognised you lol. Missed the food but must have been a bloody mare with all them midgies, which I suppose shows the benifit of tent over tarp with them little buggers about. Cheers Alan

Alan METALMAN Hi Alan thats the fun with tarps you can have your own fav set-up. Couldn't cook with the midges. I uploading a winter tarp trip next week. Plenty of food on monday Stuart making steaks.Atb.

Why on earth didn’t you take a mosquito coil or two with you? They keep midges at bay all day and night. You can get electronic versions now too with refills.

The Siltarp 2 is basically 2 Siltarp 1's sewn together. They aren't the right size as advertised like you mentioned. My Siltarp 1 is a lot less than 8x5 ft which was previously sold by Integral Designs , its a few inches short at each end. Rab now owns the company and sell in metric not imperial so have conveniently shortened their tarps to save money I guess. Nice to see you perservering with a tarp and bivy Eddy, even with the midgies giving you so much grief, I know the sensation of loving biting critters and feel for you. Minimalism is the new camping culture you know it makes sense, atb mate

Hi mate , yeah i might try a winter tarp and bivy camp . It was Integral designs when i bought it , minimalism might be hard for next weeks camp at Glen Nevis i need to prepare for winter conditions although its still mild in Glasgow. ATB !

Was that an especially bad year for midges Eddie or are they like that every year? The shots of your arms covered in midges made me itchy! Clean shaven you look ten years younger. Snow flurries in our forecast tonight. Take care, Ossie

I remember it being very windless on alot of camps that year so the midges were out alot. Not so bad this year on my trips because the wind and rain has followed me around , little summit camp then maybe a beach camp starting tomorrow.Take care.
