Thanks for taking us along! That knot is great! I'm going to give it a try - I usually use a small carabiner in an end loop. Awesome smock too!

Dude, I hate knots. Infact, I know about 2...But as you said, you don't need to be a Boy Scout to set up a great shelter.. Once again, Great Video. Keep up the great work! Cheers Chief!

I think people eventually tend to do ridge lines in a way that works for them. I have my ridgelines pre prepared in a way that I can get a ridgeline and tarp up in less than 5 minutes. I can do it with poor eyesight, in poor light as well as poor weather conditions and get any gear be out of the weather and in my line of sight.. These ways work for me, hence it is the way I do it. It is neither the right or wrong way but it works for me/us. :)
@frogmaster83Ай бұрын
In a nutshell, thats it. I do it the way that works for me. 👍

I never camp in trees so I always use two poles and a ridge line Making camp on grass rather than dirt has always been my go to ideal site especially if it’s got views.

I have tents, tarps and hammocks. I am out most weekends, so I like to mix it up a bit.

Where did you get the cord you used for the ridge line?
@frogmaster83Ай бұрын
Off eBay, from a boat supply place. Can find you a link if you like?
oooo they do it in green too. I tried para-cord as a ridge line once.... the inner and outer separated 🙁 Then i went to Go Outdoors and got some climbers accessory rope, which is good, but its brightly coloured. Just ordered 10m, 6mm in green from the same place you got yours
@lesallan4042Ай бұрын
Does it stretch?

@@lesallan4042 a little when new, but not bad after its been used a few times.

Alan can you recommend a good colour of paracord to order for tarps and general outdoor-bushcaraft use? Also what mm would you recommend? 2mm? 3mm? 5mm? What lengths do you pre-cut yours to, for a 3x3DD tarp? I suppose any drab or camo colour is OK, but I just wanted to check, in case there is some aspect of using it that I have not thought of. Thanks.
@frogmaster83Ай бұрын
I am not really a fan of paracord. I find it stretches too much and is a bugger to undo when wet. My ridgeline is a standard soft cord, 10M long. Also its 6mm thick. Easy to work with and it dont knot up too much.
@TimmyBobinsonАй бұрын
@@frogmaster83 Yes, wet paracord is a bugger.
