Heyy!! I’ve seen you on a few of Lee and Timotei’s vids so thought I’d watch one of yours! Love your sense of humour and got to love a camp with our Des 😍 Great looking food, beer and company! New sub here! 🥰

Hi Karen, thanks very much for checking out the video and subscribing, really glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to watching your new vid when it goes live later. I had a great laugh with Tim and Lee, we're all quite local to one another so I'm sure we'll get back out for another camp in due course. Des is a top bloke too, been camping with him for several years now and he's always a pleasure to share a camp fire with. 👍

Thanks for sharing Gavin glad you all had a good camp despite the weather. Amazing that some of those trees are still standing given their condition and recent weather!!!

New chair barn? I don't recall ever seeing you use a chair. Those wings looked the nuts 👍 Nice to see you out again.
@barneysbimbles8 ай бұрын
Cheers Lee, not a new chair, I got it a while back from Alpkit. I just don't tend to take a chair wildcamping. I quite enjoyed the luxury of a chair though so it might make a few more appearances! 👍

You'll have to check out Des' video to see what he thought of the Darjeeling tea. This was a different woodland Tim, not too far from where we camped though, we'll have to get you up there for a camp in due course. Thanks for checking out the video though matey, I shall be watching yours later today 👍

I see most people run a ridge line then hang a tarp below it. is there any reason you cant throw a tarp over a ridge line
@barneysbimbles8 ай бұрын
Hi Phil, thanks for checking out the video. You probably won't see it on this video, but I did actually put the tarp over the top of the ridgeline. I did that because I was using a heavy canvas tarp and generally find that it pitches better like this. However, this is not something I do normally, my lightweight tarps usually hang from the prussik loops under the ridgeline. The reason for hanging a tarp under a ridgeline is that it prevents any rainwater coming under your shelter. A lot of people use paracord for their ridgelines. Paracord is great, but it absorbs a lot of water when it rains and this starts to wick through the length of the cord. This happened to me over the weekend, it rained all night and when I checked the lines in the morning the paracord inside my shelter was quite wet. Happily it wasn't so wet as to disrupt my camp, but enough to make me choose to hang the canvas tarp under the ridgeline next time around! 👍
@phililpb8 ай бұрын
@@barneysbimbles thanks for the reply. I was asking as I have ordered the same canvas tarp and thought it might be more simple just to throw it over a rope ridge line. for the lighter tarps I have just used bungees up utill now
@phililpb8 ай бұрын
do you find a 2.4m x 2.4m tarp big enough?
@barneysbimbles8 ай бұрын
Yeah I think it's the sweet spot for a solo shelter. Whenever I used a 3x3 tarp, I always found that the shelter was much more than I needed. Hope you enjoy it 👍
