Since August 11th the Tigers have went 28-11 which is the best record since Aug 11th. On August 22nd the Detroit Tigers were 9.5 games back of a wildcard spot with a 0.8% chance of making the playoffs, but now they have a 87.1% odds.

In my 39.75 years of life, ive never seen a tigers team actually make a run and play themselves INTO the playoffs. Ive seen the inverse a handful of times where we BLOW the playoffs with a horrible run down the stretch. This is absolutely unprecedented, unreal and improbable in every way....and i couldnt be more excited!!!

@@travist4923 your right, active payroll is 36 million, their total is quite a bit higher but with Baez and others out for the season due to injuries and what not .

In 2022 the Braves played 700 ball for like 4 months. This year the Braves are actually mortal. That's the difference that has me feeling confident as a Met fan going down to Atlanta in this situation

You also have to understand the Braves don’t have half of the superstar lineup. Braves would make the argument being the best team in the NL if they were fully healthy. Mets have been very impressive and could be the Cinderella team in October

@@ZackAttack1295 I do understand that. But also Acuna wasn't spectacular in 2022. He was also hurt a bunch and he hit something like 15 homers in 120 games. They don't have the pen they had. And I'd argue the Braves don't have a real leader. Freeman and Swanson were the leaders, and they were not replaced. Nobody stepped up.

The Orioles play the Yankees and Twins, the Tigers play the Rays and White Sox. Orioles are 4 games ahead, but Tigers would own the tiebreaker. Am I crazy to think there’s still a slim chance the Tigers jump BOTH the Royals and Orioles and have home field in the first round?

No because Detroit would have to play the Astros as the top wild card team has to play the lowest winning percentage division winner in the wild card round

Detroit 88-74 beat Tampa Bay 2-1, and now have a 2 game lead over Minnesota with 5 games left. They play 2 more games vs T.B. 78-79, and 3 games vs the Chicago White Sox 37-120. FanGraphs now has Detroit odds at a 87.5%. Kansas City has 2 more games @ Washington 69-88, and 3 games @ Atlanta 86-71. Minnesota 86-76 (2 GB) has 2 more games vs Miami 58-99, and 3 games vs Baltimore 87-70. Detroit gets to close the season vs the worst team in the MLB, while K.C. and Minn both play against playoff teams.

Acting like the only reason Detroit is in this is because KC and Minnesota collapsed is crazy. Puck is being a White Sox cry baby. Stop sounding sour. Besides one of KC or Minnesota could've won every game available and Detroit would still be in the playoffs at this time.
