I’ve just realised exactly why Deborah Davis realises that he’s in the same place. Near the beginning of the witness answering questions the connection drops for both the defendant and the witness and returns at the same time and Deborah is like 🤨 because they’d be sharing Wi-fi and from then on she watches like a hawk in case she was right, the second the exact same thing happens again at around 9:10 she knows immediately and says so. It’s actually really clever. It’s taken me ages to work out what tipped her off, but I’m pretty sure it’s that.
@shiannevanvolkenburg16512 жыл бұрын
Idk, she kind of gets a puzzled look on her face and her tone seems to change even before the connection shut off. I feel like it was the way the woman was responding. Then the connection cutting out at the same time seemed to only confirm it enough for Debbie to bring it to the courts attention

I’ve also seen a theory that the girl was late getting on because she’d been messaging her lawyer. In the original video you can watch a moment when the police officer in the call suddenly gets up and leaves, then comes back, and then the police are there very soon after Deborah first points it out. Idk what the real situation is here but whatever the case quick thinking on everyone’s parts (except the dude “uuuuh why? my phone has low battery”)

This is honestly really tragic. Because when she actually gets round to testifying at a later hearing, she makes every attempt to make excuses for him and mitigate what he did to her. She's completely terrified of him and controlled by him, and it's worse than that. When she's talking about him pinning her down and forcing a metal bar into her mouth and threatening to smash her teeth, it's because "he did it because I wouldn't stop crying". She phrases it as if SHE caused it to happen, as if it's somehow her fault. She's extremely cagey and tries to downplay the event as "just a normal fight". A very sad case of battered spouse syndrome. But fortunately Miss Davis is a very slick prosecutor and seemed to manage to wrangle what she needed out of the examination. And the guy's defense lawyer was a total turnip who didn't seem to want to be there.

I have also wondered about the zoom criminal cases I have seen. I have been worried for witnesses before on these calls, as well as wondered about the constitutionality about it. I have also wondered about some of the nonviolent criminal cases, where I have worried that the defendant could be suicidal. In a court room the judge can order suicide watch, but in this case they are told to go to the jail by 6 and leave the call distressed. Seems like a recipe for disaster.

In the original/live recording, both the defendant's attorney and the presiding bailiff are both visible, for some reason this video you found cut them both out, but that's why there's a gap in the middle. Since you didn't get to see the original zoom, you're excused for not knowing this, but the defense attorney, Paul Gipson, was on zoom (with video) when he made the hearsay Objection (you could see him fine, his audio is always a bit weak). I watched it (and the follow up to it) live (I should have recorded the first one haha, but alas, I didn't). Natale Lawyer Chick did do a cover of this as well, and you can see him in hers.

I’m tired of this Natalielawyerchic! I’m going to have to do a livestream with her and give her a piece of my mind.😂

@@LawTalkWithMike ROFL, she said the same thing about some attorney named Mike... Kidding haha. Hey if you want to see the unedited follow up to this, kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5mUg5hpjtaFqdk , it's long, but also juicy (although not as surprising as the first). I love the moment when he spontaneously accuses her of being high and she gets pist and suddenly more cooperative. :)

Wow, just wow!!! Our tax dollars are paying for these two ding dongs. Thank you to the police, the judge, and prosecutor. This is TERRIBLE. The prosecutor was concerned about the woman when he was sitting 10 feet away. She is no longer a victim, she is guilty of taking up precious time needed for other true victims.

It must have been terrifying for the woman to have this guy in the same location as her. Who knows what would have happened if police didn't show up because of the prosecutor and judge seeing through this ruse.
