Plantain-Plantago spp. is a common weed that grows on lawns all over the world. This edible plant also has an incredible super power. Plantain can draw toxins and poisons out of your skin when applied topically. So, if you every get stung by a bee or bitten by a spider, make a plantain poultice, apply it to the affected area, and feel instant relief and reduction of swelling. If you’re allergic to insects, this knowledge can save your life! In this video, Sergei Boutenko discusses how to find and use plantain safely and responsibly.

I have used this plant right out of my organic lawn for years for it’s antihistamine benefits as well as other things. It’s a treasure. Another amazing benefit of psyllium husks from plantain seeds is that they aren’t just fiber-they contain mannose, one of the eight glyconutrients (non-caloric, so it doesn’t raise blood sugar; rather, it helps balance it) that make stem cells for fast healing and recovery. Any foods containing mannose is a goldmine super food. It needs the other “essential” glycos to be the most efficient at this, but if you make a mix of all eight and eat even just a small amount every day, you stem cells can go from very few in your bloodwork one day, and within only 7 days, will have multiplied in count into the trillions in your blood work. This helps heal, repair and renew some 200+ areas of our health, and that’s only the drop in the bucket we know about. MIT calls these “the missing food group”. I learned about this from Mannatech, who has done a lot of research on them. I also bought the books “Sugars That Heal”, and “Miracle Sugars”. These are not the kind that cause problems-they are ones that fix problems, even blood glucose problems. Learning about foraging wild foods that contain these treasures is wise. I searched “foods containing the eight essential glyconutrients, lists”, made eight food lists, and have tried to eat from all eight lists by combining them into a dried mix and just taking a half tsp a day. I have no business or monetary investments in these things, but I have skirted 5 fatal illnesses by using these, cancer, COPD, Cat Scratch Disease, Pre-Diabetes and more. I have never smoked, but I did get asthma and COPD from a toxic cleaner sold in a major store we all know, containing the same offending ingredient as in Agent Orange that caused our military Gulf War Syndrome. I promise, we have to fight for our lives, not just survive, and these eight glycos as a major survival tool is known by millions, and yet drs don’t even know they are listed right in the back of the PDR (because their md curric was 70% written by drg co employees who aren’t even drs). Watch out for your health, people, it’s up to no one but you in the end. (Copy’d b4 pst)

And by the way, what I personally call those little neck threads is “bango strings”-I think there are five |||||. I’ve never heard anyone else refer to them at all, so that was refreshing. I also think of the shapes of the two varieties of plantain as “spoon” leaf shape and “butterknife” leaf shape. Hope that helps someone with ID-ing them. A Little Warning Story: One day I thought I’d blend a cup of these leaves and make a smoothie and I didn’t wake up for eighteen hours-that’s how powerful the antihistamine qualities were to me, but that’s just me. I’ve never underestimated a plant since. But it did get rid of the itching from my multiple bug bites with which I was dealing. Plants are powerful. It’s like the guaiac tree (from which Mucinex is made, surprise!)-that stuff doesn’t just loosen phlegm, it will loosen the calculus right off of your teeth for which the dental Hygienist usually has to use a dental jackhammer, etc., etc. Good to know. Pray your way to answers because heaven knows what you don’t even know you don’t know yet…

I can attest to how great this plant is...We were at a family picnic a few years ago and my great niece,Gia(who was a little todler at the time) got stung by a bee and was in total tears and panic...Well,I remembered that if you chew up the leaf of this plant ,it was supposed to take the sting out...Well,it grows all over here in upstate New York so I quickly found some, chewed it into a paste and aplyed it....Everyone there was amazed how she almost immediately stopped crying...She said it stopped hurting....I kind of think I have been her hero ever since....She is a dear....

This must be what people did for nettle stings. Cos dock leaves do absolutely nothing for nettle stings. Im going to try it later when im out in the garden and get a nettle sting ... it must be that people got confused at some poijt because honestly has anyone ever tried dock leaves they just do not do a damn thing for me anyway.

I have to say I disagree, Dock leaves have always been my go to when I get stung by a nettle, it happened this morning it was a little tiny new nettle plant that I failed to spot in a planter from last year, it got me good on the nuckle area, I grabbed the dock leaf shredded it and rubbed the green sap on my finger it was immediate relief, I’ve been using it since my mother thought me how 50 odd years back and it’s never failed to work for me .😊

I foraged some plantain and dandelions yesterday and put them in the food processor for a minute and put it in my dogs raw meal. And today I had to chew some up and put it on my dog's eye because he got stung on the eye. The swelling went down. So this does really work. There is a very serious problem with plantain, which must never be forgotten. It is a plant that can be used by absorbing it, against different types of bleeding or hemorrhage, because it increases blood coagulation, but this very quality can unfortunately sometimes lead to a dramatic coagulation accident, that is, for example, a clot that forms in the brain, resulting in an ischemic stroke. It should therefore always be used with extreme caution, especially if it is someone who is a little fragile, elderly, for example. And if this person has already had a difficulty related to an ischemic accident, it is totally forbidden to use this plant, in whatever case. Please understand this point.

It actually felt a lil cool like icy hot. When it started to itch I'd put on a fresh batch (lasted like 6 hours) the paste kept the itch away and the poison ivy was gone in just a few days. If you step on a rusty nail, put your foot under running water as soon as possible to clean the wound!! Cleaning the wound is the most important thing !! Let a little blood run from the wound to get rid of lodged bits of rust! Do not apply chewed plantain to an open wound!!!!!!!! If you're travelling, you sure have a bottle of hydrogen peroxide handy, so if that's a 3% one, you can pour on neat, over the wound! Never, ever apply chewed anything to a wound!!! Don't stop taking your regular meds and you might end up as another victim on the pathology table. I used to work there and saw so many unnecessary deaths; completely preventable, due to bets and jumps from building or fights everyone forgot what they were about! An image of a seven year old boy who fell from a low branch of an apple tree has not left me!! He claimed a branch which was probably a meter high but fell on a large stone beneath the tree. I'll carry this image forever. Study all plants extensively before you consume them. This can't be a bad advice, can it? This man is too cavalier about it. Don't do it.

I used it about 10yrs ago to treat my father in laws thumb which had got gangrene. He was cantankerous and refused to ho to hospital, so my best friend, an e r nurse told him that by rights they would need to send him for amputation as it was badly tracking and had reached skip stage it was so bad. He answered her that he'd accept that. If what I did didn't work! Well I got to it with plantain washes every hour, with a honey compression, and large doses of capsicum tincture. After 12 hrs and lots of disgusting dressing the tracking had reduced. I switched to every 2 hrs then every 4 hrs until 48 hrs later the base of the thumb had colour. My best friend advised that it needed debriding, but still he refused to go in, so I did it! As carefully as I could then immediately gave a plantain wash and used the honey again. Every 4 hrs. After 4 days tge skin gad started to show pink and was showing granulation around the wound edges. After 2 weeks there was barely a wound to see. I tell you I prayed a whole lot during that, learned a whole lot, and trusted the herbs even more than previously. I need to add I am a herbalist. However this was the biggest thing I had ever done.

You could try getting or making your own charcoal.. if it's safe just get a branch from a guava tree pomegranate mango any fruit tree. A dry branch that hard. Chop it and use small twigs to get it going. Light it let it burn. When its stop smoking and it's just red flaming coals douce it with water. Let it cool the put it up to dry. Bring it inside and use a mota and pestle or a coffee grinder and grind it to power. Home made charcoal . Antidote for any poison in your system.. 2 capsule amount is a dose or a 1/4 tsp in a glass of water.

I tried stirfrying some of the young seed stalks a few days ago - guess I should have boiled them instead, as they were to tough to chew with my dentures. That was a waste of good butter and garlic! Guess I will try some young leaves - I have a large amount of plantain growing in my backdoor garden, on purpose. I have always used it for poultices, since I was first introduced to that use when I was 10. That was over 6 decades ago.

Its excellent for cataracts and glaucoma. Wash the leaf dry it with s clean cloth or just shake it off then turn on a blow dryers and give it a pass near the hot air. The leaf becomes limp let it cool rub between your fingers. With Clean hands ofcourse and put a drop in each eye. It stings a bit but the eye ducts will open and the built up fluid flows like you're crying your sinuses will drain as well. Caribbean remedy for pink eye or any other eye issues

Foxglove leaves have threads like that. I have both plantain types growing in my garden. I put them there and they're spreading slowly. Had no idea they were edible! I keep finding out that more plants I've encouraged or put in my garden are edible. The Ivy-leafed Toadflax is another recent edible discovery for me. I've been nuturing the ones growing here as they're pretty. But we can eat it. High in Vit C. But an Ivy-leafed Toadflax salad doesn't sound too appealing. 😁

@@Lazydaisy646 I wonder if it is treated like Poke Weed (and certain beans) (three boils and rinses in three batches of fresh new water), if that procedure works to remove the digitalis poison out like it does other plants? @@Gasp7000do not eat poke weed or fox glove or any other palnt. Theres no good reason to do so. And you have no idea what cincentrations are in any one plant ..one can be very strong another weak in poison and you cannot tell this by looking at it. Also thrice boiled leaves of any plant will have sweet fuck all of any value left in it to eat so what is the point. You may as well eat grass. Once you wash it enough to remove the poison you will also have removed any nutrients.
