RM only wanted to share his message through his poetic lyrics. He didn't asked for the overwhelming fame. He wants to be a wildflower in an open land instead of a firework in the spotlight. He lost a lot of his (personal) freedom because of it and he can't truelly be himself anymore because of all the fame. For instance, he likes nature a lot, it's important for him to go walk in the park, in the nature, but due to his fame he's not able to do these 'normal' things anymore.

I heard him say in a more recent interview that he, and probably the rest of the BTS members, will take the time to work more on personal projects in the future. I recently saw a clip with all the health issues they had by exhausting themselves and pushing threw despite severe injuries. It's about time we (the fans) stop demanding them to be writing machines that produces songs non-stop (their words on the Festa dinner in 2022). They have to slow down a bit. And I hope they can also find the time to start thinking about relationships. Apart from JK, they all will be 30 and older in 2025. RM has let us know multiple times that he's loneley at times and he hinted he would like to have a girlfriend. I hope the ARMY's will happy for him (them) when he (they) has (have) one but I'm sure it will cause a lot of commotion.

He wants to go back to his roots. That's why he promoted his album by giving a concert at the Rolling Hall in Seoul, a small venue, for only 200 people.

In the Behind the scenes from the concert he says he was happy for an hour (you could really see on stage he was feeling good being his true self) but he indirectly implied he's not happy the rest of the time which is very sad 😢

In Korean the word for fireworks is essentially fire flowers, so he's kind of flipping that play on words into English with the flowerworks, contrasting the idea of that brief and fading burst of glory that are fiteworks versus the grounded beauty of wildflowers.
@robertthomas23129 ай бұрын
That 8:17 you comment about the amazing visuals of the red fireworks display. FYI this is a practical effect, not CGI or Green Screen. It's called Nakhwanori, a traditional fireworks from the Joseon dynasty with small bags filled with charcoal made from salt and burnt mulberry. Nakhwanori was actually replicated for the mv. The details of most kpop videos are truly impressive.

RM is a poet. The sincerity that passes through poetry is incredible. I see a lot of artists who make songs about things and people. In BTS, most of the time, they talk about their own experiences. This brings us much closer to them, as we identify with real feelings. The beauty and glory of success, of fireworks, the journey in search of greater meaning and the true "I", until reaching peace, balance in a field of purple flowers.... 💜💜💜

I love the visual contrast between fireworks and wildflowers. Fireworks explode in a beautiful moment and then they're gone while flowers can bloom over and over. RM's album Indigo which this song is from is really rich, diverse and he introduced a lot of people to different artists such as Youjeen. If you get a chance I'd recommend the entire album since he's said it was the last music he'd release while in his 20s. IMO the best thing about BTS is knowing how incredible they are as individuals but then add then into the full group and you're going to be in for a fun ride.
@EmmieUniverse9 ай бұрын
Don't worry about giving your own interpretations. Even though the explained video is the message that RM himself intended, your interpretation is what RM was like when he was a teenager/earlier 20s. He had a dream of being the firework in the sky, of being recognised for his music. But they faced a lot of struggles in their early years (and still) as bts. So in a way, your interpretation was correct aswell. 💜

i think i like the explained videos because whether 'right' or 'wrong' doesn't really matter to me, it's always been fun for me to analyze media and see other peoples' impressions too so i like how this sparks conversation around the original content and it's not so much about catching 'missed' things, but it is fun to see you get a further peek into what an army who has seen the interviews or has more context for the content has thought of in their interpretation. i know reactors often get to know all the theories or a lot of details after they post and people comment, but this is a fun way to also get to see you have a chance to see more detail that an initial reaction would be almost impossible to catch usually or more context in general. i watch a ton of reactors and I really appreciate how you care to think about what you are watching and are curious to understand it more not just vibe to it (though i'm alright with that approach too here and there!). I appreciated too that you googled youjeen! I think in a few vids i've seen you google things you were curious about and i really like that because tbh that's more natural to how i myself take in media and it shows a consideration for your audience and I think it would make your experience of the content a bit better too to be able to get some answers as you watch instead of having to wait for comments on the posted video all the time, especially if not knowing is distracting you from your enjoyment.

As A West Indian Army Mom (56 yrs ) who discovered our Boys in 2016....and have seen possibly thousands of their 'Behind the scenes vids' many of which have been 'deleted today'. My Number 1 song by RM was always "Forever Rain". So much so....I have it written in my will to be played at my funeral (cremation KThanks) The depth of loneliness that millions feel Globally...spoke to me. Also? There is a brief part that RM intertwined....of a REAL recording of a Male Orca Whale. Captured in the Antartica. This species of Whale - mate for life. His female partner was captured by Japanese whalers/killed/ then served in various Restaurants. With no one being the wiser. The Male (to this day) has traveled millions of Miles...looking for her. So he 'sings'/makes this particular sound' HOPING....she will respond. but....we know....- in vain so continues to remain alone....searching for her. That alone? Makes me bawl my eyes out.....every time I listen to this song. If there is a 'Higher Entity' Call it what you want. I ....HOPE if reincarnation exists? These Whalers come back as that same Male Whale (who's life long partner.. they casually/cruelly killed) so understand YEARS of loneliness/despair. Searching for her. KARMA. #ZeroApologies for my above rant. THIS SONG? Was RM saying how he truly felt - back then. My number 1 best song by him......Ps. Any one depressed? Trigger warning. Suggest you skip it........kzbin.info/www/bejne/eafFaGmed72ShcUsi=GG32hNIh5OgPB6wJ...............although it IS 'HIS MOST 'HEART FELT SONG' to Date. 💜💜💜💜

Every track on Indigo is a different genre. RM has always been one of the most experimental members of BTS. Indigo is full of genius collaborations. You can watch them sing this live on RMs ROLLING HALL CONCERT LIVE SEOUL WILDFLOWER WITH YOUJEEN. ON RM INDIGO MAGAZINE DOC. Youjeen says she never agrees to collab but was so impressed by RM.. ERYKAH BADU also said the same about her collaboration with RM. RM says BTS is like a firework but he wants to be a flowerwork who in the end drifts softly down after all the success like flower petals slowly drifting down. If you check out the RM INDIGO MAGAZINE DOC, he discusses each track. Personally I think INDIGO is a future cult classic and deserves to be listened to in order and entirety.

His versatility is so satisfying. Enjoyed your reaction and that you delved into more. Well done. He has said for a while he just needed to step away for a minute to find himself again and I definitely think the military time is that for him. A place to do what every other many in South Korea is expected to do. A chance to do something he perceives as 'normal'.
@MariaChavez-ey5sr9 ай бұрын
YouJeen is a famous punk/rock vocalist. She was very hesitant to do this collab because she felt her style is too loud and harsh and she was too old. RM had to convince her she was the only voice in korea he could imagine would pop in the song like fireworks explode. I find it impressive how he structured the album, every song is a different genre most with collabs. Many of them with older women. He wasnt looking for "hottest hip trendy collabs" he wanted those steady in their careers mostly who could resonate with his deep messages. Heck he got someone who RARELY collabs the queen of NeoSoul herself Erykah Badu for his first track (my second favorite on the album) and sent her a whole essay and power point about his vision for the album/song, which she was charmed and amused by. He is such an ernest poetic soul who wants to express himself and his art, who cant appreciate it. The whole MV here is stunning every frame like a piece of art. Indigo as an album is pure artwork. Another thing he worked on this song for 4 or 5 years. He worked with the pianist for BTS live band who has produced a few songs for them in the past, DocSkim. DocSkim who is INCREDIBLE musician had lost his passion and was going to give up on music and leave the industry but in an interview said working on this song gave him his love for music back. Its that powerful a song and RM and BTS are that kind of artists that inspre those around them with their infectious enthusiasm for creation.

Im glad she changed her mind and was convinced to do this song! Because of that, we were all gifted this amazing work of art called "Wild Flower' 😅🤩! and you can tell a lot of time and hard work went into making this song. IIt was not rushed and he took his time to make it perfect

Your analysis makes perfect sense for someone who only got to listen to the song one time with all of the distractions of such a dynamic MV plus you don't have the luxury of having over a decade's worth of info on BTS. The members make music for everyone but it's also pretty clear that ARMY is in the back of their minds when they write music. There's a sense that they feel like the listeners have unspoken context that they will use to fill in the blanks. Like recently an employee in a certain company who stole Namjoon's private info or the monk who shared Namjoon's private conversation with the media when it was supposed to be confidential. On the surface, I can only imagine how hard it would be to fully analyse as a newbie. A core part of this song is knowing how many trials Namjoon has gone through as part of the fame. He loves each member of BTS, the music and the fans and he loves that their music had reached so many people and has an impact. Unfortunately that attention has always, from the very beginning, come with a lot of darkness. People were targeting the group even when they were minors and just trying to break into the industry. The were getting attacks, death threats, stalkers, media smear campaigns, sabotage and more for years and it still has not stopped. It's only gotten worse. And as the leader, he is the face of BTS and tends to be the go-to punching bag. If I may give a recommendation, xCeleste did a video called 'BTS Hardships 2013-2021'. There is an old version but the updated one is the one to watch since it covers the old stuff and an update. This is nowhere near everything that happened and continues to happen (barely the tip of the iceberg) but it's meant to be sort of an quick snapshot showing some types of things they faced and a few examples even though many people did similar things to them over time. It will give an idea of some of the things that were the negative side of the fame that he's been dealing with from 18 years old onwards. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5W8Z6qkgdiYqrMsi=eV3bIkwEVR1t-3Uv

I honestly had the sense before this album came out that he was just done. I think if they hadn’t taken their break when they did, he might have walked away. Like you said, he really needed the time to recover and rediscover his love for the group (not the members - he never lost that) and for music. He did have a good year and a half between the hiatus announcement and enlistment and you could see his progression. I think we sometimes forget just how much the popularity in the west wore on him in particular. Being the de facto translator is exhausting on top of all of the other pressures as the leader. Indigo is truly wonderful. Much like his choice of Youjeen on this, he chose amazing features on each of his songs.

@NanciBK9 ай бұрын
I love how much you curse when you get excited. Honestly relatable. This song is on the theme of his album. Indigo is the story of his twenties and also a treatise on authenticity as an artist and a person. The Korean word for Firework translates as Fire Flower. In this song he is talking about wanting not to burn brightly and burn out like a firework, but remain rooted, his feet on the ground, in lasting beauty like a wildflower. His song Still Life on the same album has a similar meaning about desiring artistic longevity. In the MV you see him pass through the storm of all the hard times in the last decade, both within himself and dealing with the storms from the outside, like haters and the chaos of their rise to fame. In the end he is triumphantly on stage with ARMY and at peace in the field with ARMY. He just wants to remain grounded as himself with his brothers and with ARMY, amidst it all, and for his art to have lasting impact. RE: BTS being so good looking. Objectively, you're not wrong, but here is something important to know ~ S Korean Idol beauty standards are incredibly specific and exacting, almost cartoonish. The majority of BTS members DO NOT MEET THE STANDARDS, like AT ALL. They were signed based on talent, not looks. The only one that has the total package idol looks is Jin. When they debuted, they were called "The Ugly Idol Group" in S Korea. They have taken massive bullying and hate over their looks over the years, including targeted attacks and massive hate campaigns to specific members, particularly the rap line and Jimin. It impacted them greatly and they even have multiple songs where they talk about not looking like idols or not having the right face or body, etc. They used to separate themselves into teams for games and would call themselves Team Unpretty, or make countless jokes about how they are not at all good looking. To a large extent they still feel that way about themselves. You know those outer voices you live with all through your formative years become inner voices that can be hard or impossible to shake. Jimin is still super shy about appearing on camera when he is not styled for the camera. The rap line has a more IDGAF attitude about it, but always act touched and shy when they get compliments on their looks. The irony is that when they started to break in the West, people went on and on about their looks from the opposite side, calling them "too pretty" accusing them of having extensive plastic surgery or wearing tons of makeup. None of them has had plastic surgery, though they did have glow ups as they got older and grew into some of their features from when they started as teenagers. Part of that has a component of xenophobia and racism, as calling Asian men feminine, too pretty, etc is a common racist trope, since in general they have less body hair and softer angles on their faces than European descended men. All that said, yes, they are all stunning men. Objectively. The S Korean idol standard is total BS as far as I am concerned. And they are helping change the standard, just by existing as themselves and being the biggest thing ever to come out of S Korea. And yes, they all have an insane level of natural charisma. It rolls off them in waves in person and leaves even seasoned hosts and interviewers and other famous entertainers stammering and stuttering and flustered. One stage, all together, performing, they are breathtaking. Emma Stone, you know, recently Oscar nominated super star Emma Stone, talked about watching their warmup for their SNL performance and she said "A scream involuntarily left my body. I don't even know where it came from. I was stunned." You're right, their music is both personal and specific while also telling universally relatable stories. Their music is layered and complex. Their songs usually have a universally relatable theme paired with personal stories, both of which are related to the album theme, since all their albums are concept albums, solo or as a group. Then sometimes there is another layer of commentary on political, social, or cultural issues or events under that. Then sometimes another layer of hidden story under all that related to their BU (Bangtan Universe) storyline, the supernatural mystery that runs through their albums and other multi-media like books, webtoons, MVs, short films, their mobile game BTS world and more. BTS speaking to our hearts with our own inner fears, dreams, hurts and hopes is part of why we love them so much. RM said he needed time in silence and that was his intention after Indigo, to travel, to visit museums and be among the art and history he loves and just read and think and be in nature. And he did do all that. For a hot minute. But he could not stay out of the studio and started working on a new project almost immediately. He has been dropping hints that he finished it before enlisting and it is coming out very soon.

This song gets me in the feels every time. youjeen's voice adds such a heart piercing quality to the song to help us feel Namjoon's struggle. It seems like he doesn't feel like he should be in the position he is in. he is constantly trying to learn, better himself and better the world, but no matter how hard he tries he is just looked at as a celebrity. if people really listened and took his words seriously, I feel like the loud (stupid) voices could be overwhelmed with his "silent" words. @@_LVLUP_ 11:20 bro, I just find it funny how the perception of BTS is so messed up. When a foreigner's first encounter BTS, they'd be like they're so damn pretty, it must be why they're so popular. But regular people have no idea how much BTS were so badly treated in the Kpop Industry or by Kpop fans in general just because they're considered ugly. Yeah, you heard that right. BTS as a Kpop group is not considered good looking amongst Kpop groups. Usually, Kpop groups has barely any visual holes (ugly looking member) cause "visuals" is one of the most important aspect of a Kpop idols. So an idol must fit the Korean beauty standards, if not they'd be forced to take plastic surgery to look more appealing. But if you noticed, most BTS members even till this day still don't perfectly fit in South Korea's beauty standards especially the rapline. RM, J-hope, Suga are considered ugly, Jimin & Jungkook are considered mediocre, and only V & Jin are considered good looking. But V & Jin don't have it easy either cause Kpop fans would only regard them as "only good-looking" members, basically they're being insulted for being talentless. At that time, when they were invited to a South Korean Variety show the host would emphasize how ugly & talentless they are. Afterwards, BTS just created their own small variety show mostly because of how badly they were treated if they'd go to other Kpop shows. Cause first & for most, they aren't supported by any huge label or anyone influential, they aren't good looking, they're also considered talentless cause most of them don't even have proper singing or dancing skills when they first debuted. Unlike other groups from big & rich companies who're really trained & polished to be perfect Kpop idols, compared to them BTS are literally like unwanted & defected products by the industry. One of the members was even threatened to leave the group because he's too ugly. And even till this day those BTS members still recieve such hate comments like fat & ugly. RM even wrote these lyrics in one of their songs "Oh face not an idol, I'm sorry, For breathing, I'm sorry" Which also why at that time it was so controversial in Kpop when BTS became the biggest not just Kpop group but the biggest band in the World. Cause it was like a slap of reality in the Kpop Industry's face. Cause for so many years, the industry had tried so hard to appeal to the US market, they'd even manufactured a lot of Kpop groups like SNSD, Wonder girls etc. just to appeal to western audience but to no avail. But somehow a bunch of 7 nobodies they'd never created nor supported since the beginning, have somehow succeed without even trying?!? The Kpop Industry can't even begin to understand how the f did they even do it? They'd tried copying everything BTS did like creating variety shows, copying their concepts, having Twitter, KZbin channels, V lives, etc. but it still didn't work. They even once brilliantly manufactured an ultimate Kpop group known as Avengers of Kpop that is said to surpass BTS. Cause not only the members from the said band are extremely popular Kpop idols from popular Kpop bands, they're also better looking, better dancer, & better singers than BTS, to top of that the said group is also backed by the biggest label of Kpop who also partnered with a huge US label Capital Records just to heavily promote that group in the US with the intention of replacing BTS 🤦. But of course, the reason why you've probably never heard of them is because they failed so miserably. And of course, the man behind all that drama who invested too much money trying to replace BTS had lost so much, so he just decided to claim BTS success as his own. His skin is that tick to the core. Those types of people who sits at the very top have that much power & influence over the media & the connections behind the industry. If not for that shameless CEO and his label who's the f*cking root of all that negative stereotypes the West has for Kpop, BTS would have it way easier & BTS would have been far way bigger than they are now. Also, it's very unfair for people to associate & contribute BTS success to the Kpop Industry when that industry is BTS biggest roadblock to begin with. Also, from the beginning BTS wasn't even a Kpop group which is why they are the least Kpop in Kpop. Which explains why they don't even look like one nor have any singing/dancing experiences prior to their debut. Cause they're a hip-hop group, take RM for example, he's a rapper from the underground prior to joining BTS, he didn't sign to his company to become a Kpop idol just like most of the BTS members. So yeah, everything about BTS is so ironic. They didn't intend to become Kpop idols but they became the biggest Kpop group instead. They didn't intend to appeal to the overseas audience but they became so popular overseas instead. They never intended to become the biggest group in the world, so they became one instead.

@@_LVLUP_ In the video, I kinda agree with bookish theory more I mean look at RM, in the past they were so hated even when they didn't do anything wrong, the world has wronged him, so he was fueled by anger. Look at his past mixtape RM which is short for Rap Monster. You can describe the mixtape with the word anger just like Suga's First mixtape Agust D, both rappers used anger to prove themselves. But in their second mixtape, both had drastic changes especially RM, he no longer cared about the hate, but more focused on comforting other people who supported him despite the hate Hence he created "Mono" & BTS created the LOVE YOURSELF SERIES because they needed it And he changed his name RM from Rap Monster to Real Me
